^yes, i know they are imported from overseas - you need not tell me - one of the reasons are Australia's high wage rates.

Actually, what do you consider fobby? Because right now, i don't understand your definition of it.

Yes i do agree that a lot of key pieces are inspired from trends in Asia - but i wouldn't go as far as 'copy' because it is appropriated. Furthermore, I wouldn't say that international catwalk fashions are copied from Asia - many of the key trends and styles come from Europe as well as the US - YSL, Balenciaga (Nicolas Ghesquière), Oscar De La Renta, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Chloe - no point in naming all of them. True, a lot street wear is copied from Asia, but the season's key shapes and silouhettes are taken from the RTW shows.

What I'm trying to say is that 'fobby' styles is not mainstream in Australia - therefore, the shops that we've mentioned (i'm not going to name all of them again) will not stock the pieces that appear in the photos posted by sunmi_byul. Also, many Aussies go around wearing more casual clothes paired together with flip-flops - hardly copying from Asia.

The issue, as brought up by tramy is where to buy the pieces pictured in the first post - these clothes do NOT appear in stores like CUE etc. I've focused on teen clothes because this thread is basically about what teens were - you don't see 25+ people wearing these sort of clothes.

1.okay, why cant i say theyre imported because how would i know if u already knew that, since we're talking about fob style...i didnt know that till my dad told me this... and im sure alot of pple didnt know that...

2. we were talking about fobby 'styles'..... read the thread title..... infact i was trying not to talk much about fobby, i was trying to talk about the fashion styles that we have in australia...

3. do u mean inappropiate? (im confused) if ur saying its inappropiate to say copy, then how would i explain it.... i had to use this word because its easier to understand. I dont see wats the point when u say what styles comes from and then after that u agreed with what i said about how most copied from asia.... If u agreed it then this explains why the expensive stores are imported and therefore those catwalks u said in previous posts...

4. Wat im saying is their STYLES not just the fobby, i already said this many times in my previous posts. The whole time we were talking about the australian styles. Fobby is not just only clothes, it could meant their hair, lifestlye, language etc.... Did u even look through those expensive stores? because u keep assuming theyre not in....

5. i was trying to help pple where they could find those styles in australia.... Do u even work for CUE, Seduce, fcuk and other expensive stores?????
these models look older..... i wouldnt say 25+ age, it would be more like 40+ that u dont see much pple wearing them...

some of them have way too many layers to be worn in places like australia. heck even HK isn't cold enough to wear that many layers tongue.gif

sometimes you gotta sweat it out for fashion lol x]

the whole "fobby" style thing~ fashion from asia
is basically mainstream fashion (cue, portmans, whatever) + cute flair

&&its not fair to compare something from CUE, to a cheapo peace nation brand shirt (white bunny brand? cant remember the name...)

OK i wanna say something too!! ahaha keke
well, the reason why korean clothes are so expensive in the states, yet they look kinda cheap is because its 시장 패션 (sheejang fashon)
wich is basically wut they sell in like markets. something like that. and pple have to sell them expensively because they have to make money off it and they buy it at a normal price. they arent able to buy the real brand korean clothes because then, they would have to sell them for so much more money. i mean since one krn shirt is 50 dollars here, imagine how much a real brand korean shirt would be. it would be alot. thats why when you get clothes it usually doesnt have a name or the name is unknown. i dont think i've seen a brand name korean clothes selling in states anywhere. i wish they had a bang bang store here but they dont lol. but yeah, thats why its so expensive. keke.
my mom's been living in the korean town for more then ten years and we're friends with most of the korean store owners so they always tell that to us. one of the stores we go to is pretty expensive. its about 500 dollars or more for a winter jacket or coat. but that store has good quality korean clothing. and i agree with Hemera. you get what you pay for. haha . sometimes you have to pay alot. unless its sale!woohoo

Omfg.

I feel like a dork now cos I never knew Chinese fashion was so pretty ohmy.gif (AND I'M CHINESE!!)

Well, okay, I knew Chinese fashion was pretty, but not that pretty, like wow, I don't think I would be able to pull them off, lolz.

Korean fashion is really cool too, but to me, it's more, casual wear, worn in fob style if you know what I mean? laugh.gif

Honestly, I don't like it when people call it a "FOB" style.
I don't know why it just gets on my nerves.

But whatever. I love the style, it's just I would have to lose tons of weight to look good in it.

I agree. I am not a "FOB" yet I already dress like that. What does that make me.

some Tokyo street style
credits to this site:
http://www.style-arena.jp/

also on that site you can find a link to this:
http://www.coromo.com/shopsimagination/index.html
which has a bunch of pics and info on clothing stores in Tokyo

here are some caps
mainly from Shibuya, since the Harajuku style usually seems a bit too crazy for me
and Ginza is a bit too dated, imo

the hat, the jacket, the tie, even the orange! I really like this guy's outfit

sort of boho, I like how flowy it is

this reminds me of something Kaori Mochida from ELT would wear!

again, I love how the tie is worked into this

It's funny how these types of clothing is considered 'Fob.'
And when an asian is seen wearing them, it's now called 'Fobby.' *lol*
