what IS vietnamese fashion? o.o"
from where i live( which has alot and alot of viets), the typical viet thing is like... flares jeans. o_o

Well from what I know and where I live. Vietnamese people tend to buy the big brand clothes such as BEBE (SPORT), TNA ( C.A), Uggs, Ed hardy ( if they get there hands on any), and more. They just dress with expensive clothes all over. I'm not sure how to explain how they dress exactly though.

I just realized that to actually pull of the "Korean/Japanese/Asian" look, you have to be at least 5"8, and weigh like 100lbs......... with legs that are like 3/4th of you entire body.... This makes me sad....

^ LMAO did you just make that up? (assume?)
no, you don;t have to be 5'8.
a lot of the models (the ones i check for their profiles) are around 5'3- 5'6/5'7. the camera angles make their legs look longer and makes them look taller. also they wear heels as well as some photoshopping, etc.

and being skinny does make your frame look longer

hello~ i thought i'd contribute some pix to this thread since i've been saving so many pix from it! smile.gif

i really like BoA's style in this pic. it looks very casual yet sophisticated. this was from her sidewalks tv interview in san francisco.

and i also love this cap that GD wore in some of his older pix:

Well, I guess I sorta assumed that since you have to be at least like 5'9 to do runway modeling, these clothing models must be like at least 5'8..... and not to mention the fact that they do have really long legs for someone who would only be like 5'6....
but I suppose being stick thin and angle/photoshop does help...... Oh well, I think they look great in their clothes...

Although there ARE alot of tall models in some pictures at this thread, i've seen a number of cute short models for fob-ish clothing ^^ I've noticed that some commercial clothes advertisements can have shorter models. I wouldn't classify the ones posted here as runway models unless they're in vogue or actual Runway pictures.

But yeah, like you said, being thin and wearing heels really makes a HUGE difference in how tall you look.

I think Asian style is so trendy, but I could never pull it off since I'm not a cutesy girl. :/ I'm stuck with the European style, I'm afraid.

^ i keep getting the "cute" comment when i wear something. but i don't think i can carry the korean style off that well. a brief try won' t hurt.

I think you can also apply that to many other people who aren't vietnamese. I've seen a bunch of girls wearing Uggs, Ed Hardy, TNA and Bebe and they are not viet.
As for Vietnamese fashion, even i don't know and i'm vietnamese. A lot of Viets in Vietnam do dress fobby but from what i've seen when i was there this summer, it's not as nice as the korean style.

yea, i go there every year.
i think since vietnam is not as modern not that many people can wear heels in the streets. etc.
and when i tried to wear shorts or a skirt my cousin (whose 18) told me that i couldn't wear it >.>
when i asked why she said because its considered too fancy. and stuff. ><"

xD It took me 3 days to go through all the 204 pages !!
But so worth it, I'm in love with the style (like all of you)

What I think you should wear/buy to archieve the style is:
- a long comfy sweater
- a lot of cute dresses
- long cardigan
- high knee socks
- a lot of scarves (for the winter)
- belts
- leggings
- really skinny or baggy jeans
- beanie
- cute shoes

Also a cute hairstyle does a lot too
And keep your make-up natural.
Eyeliner and Mascara is enough

Good Luck with it !! n__n

Hmmm I hope it's okay to post some of my photos! Obviously they're not model material, but I think it proves that short, chubby girls like myself (5"1~5"2) can pull off the fob look too! These photos haven't been retouched (yet).

There are more shots of the same outfits in my blog : )
