I didn't get my license here in New Jersey pal. Nor did I get my permit here. It just happens to be my location.
In Arizona, you can sign up for a permit at age 15 and a half or so.
You also get your license at age 16.
I moved to NJ when I was 17, which coincidentally, was the age for acquiring a license here.
Chill out with your assumptions.

Yup...same thing in Texas. You can get your license as early as 16 if you go to Drivers ed when you're 15 1/2

Sigged for life.

So many spoiled people. In the four or five pages i looked through, i spotted quite a few 17-18 year olds with (or claiming to have) $30k+ cars.

In my defense:
If you're a parent with the money, and you've got a kid...
Why would you not pay good money for the safety of your own child.
Either I get my kid something safe, or he's not on the road at all.
You expect a 17 year old to be practicing safe driving? Heck no.

But giving them a fast car doesn't help the situation either.

That doesn't matter.
Any car can be driven fast enough to be lethal.
Mine just happens to be very very safe as well.

Nah its just a rumor, the average STD rate at Rutgers is average around 10% or so. The 1 in 3 rumor happened cuz some douche decide to take a 50 people survey at a STD therapy group and only like 10 people answered lol.

An inexperienced kid in a (at least) 1 ton car is lethal period.

I don't know, i think it does. A car that can accelerate from 0-60 in 5 seconds is begging to be driven fast, and then combine that with an inexperienced driver. There's a reason why insurance rates are so much higher for younger people, and that rate increases depending if it's a sports cars, etc.

Yes, you are right about the insurance.
I see what you are saying, how giving a kid a faster car will increase the chance of an accident, but since they are inexperienced to begin with, this increase in chance is trivial because they already have a very high likelihood of getting into an accident.
Basically, what I'm saying is, just by giving the teen a car, you're already setting him up for trouble, no matter how fast the car is.
My parents can't control what I do once I leave the garage, but at least they have some peace of mind knowing I'm driving a reliable vehicle.
Nah'mean?

Actually, if you are under 18 and the car and insurance is listed under your parents name, what you do as a teenager can potentially have serious effects on your parents.

If for instance you crash your car into someone, or better yet, hit a pedestrian killing or disabling them. That person has the ability to sue up to the net worth of your parents because of what you've done. The insurance will only cover up to what you paid for in coverage, but the rest can be sued for. I say this because in this day and age where lawsuits and other crazy things run rampant about in this country, that what you do behind the wheel can get your parents into deep trouble. If you hit someone who has a high net worth, or has the potential to have a high net worth (like injuring and disabling a medical college student), your parents can get sued for more than what the insurance covers and could potentially lose the house, cars, bank accounts, etc.

The thing is that you may have a safe car, but you also have to drive safe too, because if you cause a accident the consequences can be severe.

For these reasons, if I ever have children they will not be allowed to drive until they're 18 and then I can buy them their own insurance under their name and put the car under their name (so that what they do, don't affect me).
