^ Yeah, those are scary... but I was considered emo for a while, and I understand where it comes from. I know this is off topic, but I get passionate about the whole emo thing, so bear with me for a second...
Unfortunately, the way out of that dark place is hard... the emo gets stuck there if he/she keeps focusing on his or her self (at least, this was true for me). The paradox is that if you try to find what you are looking for, you only end up strangling it to death because you, as an emo, are typically too desperate for it. The key to finding happiness in life is to turn away from your self and be willing to accept what you fear is true (for me, I hated that no one cared or listened). Then, turn to others and love them. Give them what you wish they would give you, even if they never respond or give you what you wish for. In time, you begin to heal... and after a while you will be surprised to find happiness... so that even if you are going through a terrible heart ache or loss (such as I am now), it doesn't crush you. You still have hope, and you are ultimately happy, because deep down you have confidence in the joy you've discovered, and in the new relationships you've forged.

OK, I have to agree with Luly, that really is true.

And, Luly, your other quote is the perfect flip side of that same coin... memories don't change... but something presently beautiful can change, and sometimes into something ugly. Some of us are unwilling to take that risk. I would argue it is a risk well worth taking, though.
