Summary for February week 4 chart:

No. 1 song: Epik High's "Fan" is the consensus No. 1 song this week with a near perfect score (978 out of 1000). That is not surprising considered that this song is No. 1 on almost all music charts in Korea, coupled with the fact that Epik High's 4th album has been topping the album sales chart ever since its release. Looks like this song will stay at No. 1 for a few weeks.

Biggest Movers of the week: Lee Ki Chan's "미인" (A Beauty) jumps 23 spots to No. 5 this week. This song has surpassed Epik High's "Fan" in a lot of internet rankings. As I mentioned 2 weeks ago, Lee Ki Chan is going back to his usual ballad style on this song, and it immediately recaptured his chart success. This song is yet another hit song written by the hottest songwriting team in Korea, Cho Young Soo and Ahn Young Min.

Hot shot debut: Park Hyo Shin's long awaited comeback song "추억은 사랑을 닮아" (Memories Resemble Love) is our highest debut this week at No. 17. It's the first time in 3 years that Park Hyo Shin released a new album, even though he had a big hit "Snow Flakes" from the KBS Drama M.I.S.A. (Sorry I Love You) about 2 years ago. This song is a vintage Park Hyo Shin ballad that fits perfectly to his low, husky voice.

New songs: We have 6 new songs and 2 re-entries in the top 50 this week.

Songs to watch out:

9. Lee Jae Hoon - 환상 (Fantasy) - It doesn't take long for ex-Cool member Lee Jae Hoon to hit the top 10. This song moves up 16 spots to No. 9 this week. This is the kind of song that grows on you the more you listen. Songwriter Yoon Il Sang has 2 top 10 hits this week. Besides this song, Seo Ji Young's "Hey Boy" (at No. 8) is also written by him.

14. See Ya - 미워요 (Hate You) - Moves up steadily each week, up 9 spots to No. 14. This song is from songwriters Cho Young Soo's All Star compilation album, which is selling quite well. See Ya has 4 top 10 songs last year, enroute to being named the best new artist of 2006 on our Soompi Gayo Award. Let see if the trio will score their 5th top 10 hit next week.

23. MC The Max - 볼때기사랑 (Sacrifice of Love) - We have come to expect a hit song from MC The Max each winter, and this year is no different. Even though this song is only a digital single. This song has been released for almost 2 months and is slower to heat up. But it is a vintage powerful rock ballad that we are accustomed to MC The Max.

28. Monday Kiz - 남자야 (A Man) - From the duo's 2nd album. They continue to show us their strong vocal and harmony with this new R&B ballad. Monday Kiz has not yet come out to perform on gayo show yet. But that was the same strategy as their last album. Expect this song to move up slowly but staying for a long time.

BIOGRAPHY:

Our featured artist this week is one of my favorite male singer KCM. He has such a unique voice that you can immediately recognize. KCM is a short form of his full name Kang Chang Mo. He caught my attention on his first song "I Know� in the OST of SBS drama entitled �Hit It� broadcast in October, 2003. The next year KCM released his first official album titled �Beautiful Mind�. The song "A Black and White Picture" received great response from both online and offline listeners. KCM�s biggest characteristic is the great range his voice can encompass. Rarely seen among male vocalists, KCM is capable of singing 5 octaves.

After the huge success with his debut album, KCM returned to the stages with a new album just a year later. He did very well with his second album entitled �Growing Up.� Songwriter Jo Young-soo who has been working with KCM from his debut album was in charge of producing the 2nd album. The music video of the song �Smile Again� that resemble the form of a blockbuster movie starring Jeong Joon-ho and Shin Eun-kyung was also a great sensation. At the time of his 2nd album release, many people compared KCM to Kim Jong Kook as their style of music and even their vocal is similar. While KCM has moderate success, Kim Jong Kook has gone on to sweep all the TV stations DaeSang awards in 2005.

In early 2006, KCM released his 3rd album "Love Affair". The title song "Tears of The Sun" again was a top 3 hit. Follow up hit "To Eun Young Final Part" also drew a lot of attention. This "Eun Young" series had one song each on his first 3 albums.

In January 2007, KCM released a digital single of 2 songs. The song "Goodbye" is currently a top 10 hit on our chart, while the duet "Because Love Might Come" with Hwa Yo Bi is a traditional ballad song. KCM is expected to release another 1 to 2 digital singles this year.
