I don't mind giving my friends a lift because I know it's hard to get to places at times...but sometimes it gets annoying when they depend on you so much that they expect you to drive them around even when its totally walkable or if you're nowhere near where they are but they expect you to come on over and then drive them to an area that wasn't even on your way anywhere. I mean when it gets ridiculous and when they are rude/bratty about it, I have to put my foot down and tell them I can't. It doesn't bother me that people ask, it's the WAY they ask. but it just annoys me that they think everyone with a car has chauffeur obligations or something dry.gif

I totally feel you on this . I get really annoyed how my one "friend" always asks me for ride, like he expects i can pick him up anywhere i go . It also pisses me off more that when he brings his gf to chyll with us , i have to end up driving her back which is like another 20 mins or so from where he lives, Im not some stupid limo. One day when he called for a ride i told him i can't , no reason , i just couldnt and i told him if you want to meet us you cab here, you have money you work Cuz i'm not gunna waste my gas to pick him from his place that was 20 mins from where we were chilling. He did end up takin a cab . I unno some people think gas grows on freakin trees and that bothers me . Some people just dont have consideration.

yes yes it's sad. at first i didn't mind. but then later on, gas just got expensive, and some people don't even friken offer to pay! like wtf, i drove you for how long now and there's no offer? it's not like i want your god damn money, it's just i know that they care enough to offer. i hate it when im hanging out with people, and then later when we go home, they all expect me to drive them home. if it's on the way i don't mind. but when it's not, like be friken considerate and take the cab home. geesh, good thing i unfriended them. not like we were close anyways.

ARG! I totally agree. I used to take one of my ex-friends everywhere and then I was absent for a saturday class one day and kept asking her what the assignment was and she wouldn't tell me or say she'd tell me later. So I kept messaging her and no replies. Then one day she asks me if I can take her to the mall and I said no cuz I didn't feel like it and I took her EVERYWHERE. and then she said to me, "don't you wanna know what the homework was?" ARG.........b*tch and she had the NERVE to ask me for another ride after I didn't talk to her for two weeks

anyways like msjerur, my close friends don't ask me for rides even tho they live really far away and have to wait a long time for a ride, I end up giving them rides when they need it and they nvr ask me again. but ppl I barely know ask me for rides and it really ticks me off that they think I'll give them rides. Dam lazy ppl these days

i feel u on that! even though i do not own a car, but i've seen how some people i know do that to my friends with cars. i hate it when people assume that people GOT TO do something FOR THEM because they have something and they don't. c'mon, u're not my mother / father u know! why do i always have to do things for u?!

I give my church peeps rides when we are all going to a same place or some of us are going to hang out at a certain place. They never bug me like everyone else here is talking about. They'll ask if I want to go to the mall with them and if I can drive, no problem since I'm bored most of the time. Then again, some have older siblings, so they bother them a lot more.

No biggie for me though since they do care about offering me some gas money. I don't take it though because were friends and they don't abuse it. The thing is though, they will be driving around once they get a car, so it's all even. Hahahaha, unless we're taking a road trip.

However I did have a similar experience. Four of us including me, we hanged out with the other churches. It was around 9 pm and it takes about 20 minutes to drive home, but guess what? Two little kids, exaggerating of course, wants to go follow the other kids and watch a movie that's 20 mins further than where we were at. I said ok, but after that, I strictly told them that I will not do something like this anymore, because it's a waste of my time and money and I will not drive around because of your selfishness.

Well, I don't drive but I don't like it when people ask me to ask my parents to drive them... especially when i know how they are, they are just lazy or are too dependent.

my friend asked me to ask my dad for one and i wasn't really too thrilled aobut it but i had my dad drive her... and to get to her place we had to go in the OPPOSITE direction we were headed, we told her a specific time, and i was already running late... so when we get there, what happens? we end up WAITING for her when she should have been ready by that time. to top it off, she didn't even say thank you to my dad, and i was PISSED. She also had the NERVE to keep checking the freaking time when she was the one making us late. then later on, we saw her leaving, and walking home, we just drove right by her ha ha laugh.gif

then this classmate i barely know wants me to ask my mom for a ride home. turns out, the girl already had her mom picking her up but wasn't sure if she was coming. i barely even know this girl. like wtf. you can tell-- some ppl have what i call "freeloading tendencies". This is why I HATE asking people for favors liek this... making them go out of their way to accomodate me.
sorry for the rant lol.

it's a good thing a majority of my friends drive that i never had to deal with this. i think they had to deal with me asking for rides but i made sure it was convenient for them to drop me off. i never asked a friend to take me anywhere they weren't going too. that's just... wrong.

thats why i dont like to ask people for rides.
as long close friends ask me for ride, i don't mind.
if person and i aren't close but yet he/she asks me for a ride?
i will be like...wtf? blink.gif we arent close or friends but they
have a nerve to ask?!

i hate people who take advantage of their friends by drive them around.
its not nice of them doing that to friends.

and i dont like to pay gas. i would like to save them and not waste!

yeah, i really hate ungrateful ppl. i'm not look for thank you's, but some ppl treat me like crap when i'm helping them out and they don't understand y i get pissed.

but to your friends that are in walkable distance, u should tell them casually that u think it's walkable for them n it's out of your way. if you're close friends enough to give them a ride, then they should be understanding to how u feel. if not...dump them, they are just using u.

I'm not annoyed just yet.
Just got my license&car.
But I can totally see it coming.
I mean I wouldn't mind if they're my close friends and they really need a ride
but "ey come here right now I need a ride" is a "no."

I'm.. like you I guess ? :) But then again it's also because I don't like driving..... ngah. I'd rather just not.. pay attention to the road :x haha so that just makes me a bad driver =_x;

But this is only sometimes. Sometimes I don't mind and it's like whatever, but sometimes it's just like omgwtfgoaway.

OMGAHHH I KNOWWWW!
I had this prob last year dry.gif
I mean, yeah giving them rides were no problem..
but like you said, they just started to depend on me like crazy.
& if I couldnt give them a ride, they'll start complaining on how the weather's so hot, and they dont wanna walk etcetc.

And the worst thing is, they didnt even show any sign of appreciation towards my parents who gave them rides almost everyday. Not even a smile, thank you, nada. nothing. So rude =[

*sigh, whatever. At least this year they dont really depend on me to give them rides -0-

I totally understand what you mean!
Of course, as a friend, I'm happy to give them lifts once in a while and it doesn't bother me.
But when I notice that they're taking advantage of it, I put my foot down and say "no".
What I dislike the most is when they invite me to hang out with them and automatically assumes that I'll give them rides.
Sometimes, before I actually say "yes" to an invitation, I ask them how they're going to get home.
I love driving, but not to the point that I become some cab driver. dry.gif tongue2.gif
