Ever since i moved houses my computer worked fine but i didnt hav the internet... but wen i suddenly got my net back one night everything started goin terribly wrong.

The night I got my internet back I had to turn my computer back on like 3 times because it shut itself off after 10 mins. Each time I turned it back on it said at the start something like "Warning your CPU has changed or overclocking has failed. Go to the CMOS and change your CPU and save it" I didnt overclock it so that couldnt be the problem, so i went to the CMOS and didnt change anything but i saved and exited and wen i turn my comp back on it worked but it still turned off by itself after 10 mins and said the same thing wen i turned it back on.

When it started getting late i turned my comp off and went to bed. The next morning i tried to turn my comp on and but it wouldnt turn on again. I pressed the power button but nothing happened...

Could someone please help me? Uni just started and I need my computer badly... tears.gif

usually, it would reset the cmos settings automatically...at least my mobo does...

you could try removing the mobo battery then putting it back in. that will reset all the mobo settings to default...if that is the problem

Yeah it could be the power supply. It's easy to test, if you have an extra computer around you can try testing your power supply to see if it will power on another computer or take a power supply from another computer and use it on yours to see if it'll power on.

Definitely sounds like the motherboard bios battery for the CMOS part

Very easy to replace on the motherboard...

Most motherboards use a CR2032

Other than that, it could be some major system failure... it COULD be the moving knocked something loose but the easiest answer is CMOS battery especially if the computer has been unplugged for a while.

But... to shutdown in 10 minutes I say points to overheating... it IS possible to melt a CPU so maybe thats why it refuses to boot now.

CPU is easy, just double check the heatsink and make sure the fans good.
