(drama 2007) Liar Game/ライアーゲーム

well, i think the very last scene did kinda show the reality of people...like, even though nao did all that stuff, there are still people in the world who are willing to deceive and hurt others. isn't that why the new round of liar game was shown as the last scene we see? it all still goes on and on. huh. after saying that, the ending makes more sense to me and it doesn't feel as incomplete anymore. o_o; jeez, i feel like i've been talking in circles all day, haha.

And after selectively rewatching some parts, yes Matsuda Shota and Toda Erika's acting is just genius, especially Matsuda's. I maybe just looking at things a bit too clearly, but did anyone notice how like when Akiyama's frustrated his jaw will pulsate slightly? Like Akiyama always keeps that serious expression, but you just know that he is even more frustrated and thinking harder.. I hope that made sense lol

yeah, i noticed that about akiyama too, haha. XD he's cute when he's thinking hard. i really am sad to say goodbye to him.
you know, both actors' acting was really great, but i think we should give props to the screenwriter and other staff (and of course, the manga author) for producing such an amazing drama. after all, what's good acting without a good script to act out~? plus i loved the editing of the entire drama. i think the adaptation was pretty damn good, though i've never read the manga. i want to now after watching.

The manga is *really* good. Whoever wrote the manga is super intelligent HAHA XD Like my friend said when he was reading Death Note, "Damn I hate it when Shounen Jump is smarter than me but I can't put it down!"
Yeah, overall Liar Game was just astoundingly well done. They got a great cast and a fantastic budget (probably bcause Shota and Erika were starring so they could afford to spend more). And of course, the filming style was perfect for such a tense drama.

man, if there is a season 2, i hope they do something cool and not make a repetitive plot. heck, i'd settle for a special or something, haha.

interesting, and since I have nothing to watch, i'm thinking of watching
this drama. Is it draggy & slow? ;D Hm, most of the replies in this thread
says that they LOVE the drama, so i'm just probably going to end up watching it ;DD ~

it was really a nice one. its very different from the other jdramas that i've watched so far.
but i thought the re-caps were a little too much? i got a little bored while waiting =/
hmm i woundn't say the ending is disappointing.. just not what i've expected. all along i thought they will advance to the last round and expose the mastermind. and all along i thought that saw-like puppet was just a cover-up. so now im curious to find out about this Leronira. im excited abt the season 2.
i really wished something would happen to nao and akiyama. and like what most of you have said. even a hug is fine! haha.

overall, cool drama! different from all the love stories going around these days. sometimes i got lost trying to understand the lies and the psychology behind everything but it's okay~ i really did enjoy watching this drama to the very end. i was so glad to see akiyama finally smiling! woohoo!
and hey...a season 2? if shota's still gonna be in it, i'm all up for watching it!!! ^ _ ^

compels me with the colour of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

after watching episode 10 i thought it would be a sweet finale for epi 11, but ehh all those recaps and such and the ending was ok..yea it did make Nao sorta look like the hero b/c of her kindness but come on she got off the hook too many times
i sorta expected the ending to be more different and show the real reality of ppl and what really happens..but it was a happy ending so im not complaining
still thought it was weird how Nao made Akiyama apologize to Yokoyama or w/e his name is for killing his mother...yea cuz in real life saying sorry solves everything right...*rolls eyes
but Matsuda Shota has really impressed me with his acting, i'd like to see him in a more serious movie or drama with some action lol, i guess Nao, dont know her real name isn't that bad either just the characters she plays really pisses me off like Umi in Hana Yori Dango
and i'm not really sure how they would make a season 2, i'm afraid it would be too repetitive like Gokusen 2 compared to Gokusen 1
yes I have to say Nao's character was over exaggerated also, up to a point it gets really annoying. I hope her character's not like that in the manga.
And yes, the part when she tries to make Yokoya apologize to Akiyama... and how everyone was sooo moved by the fact she tried to save him... lol But seriously, other than all that, the drama was great wasn't it?
I know she was really annoying when she was playing Umi in HanaDan, but she wasn't that bad in Nobuta wo Produce, or Tatta Hitotsu no Koi right?
I think both Shota and Erika impressed me with their acting skills, and I'll still watch if there's going to be a season 2 even though it might get repetitive... come on, who doesn't like Akiyama x Nao here??

and lol idk I was pretty satisfied that Akiyama at least SMILED because of Nao at the end. That was the first time he smiled because he was happy being with her, not because he felt smart after outwitting someone.

somehow, i don't like the idea of a season 2 if the original cast isn't it. after 11 episodes of akiyama and nao, it wouldn't feel like Liar Game anymore if the characters were changed. ^^; anyway, it isn't confirmed yet but i have a feeling there won't be a season 2...
i don't understand how the rating system works. is it based on how many people watch it or on how high the viewers actually rate the drama? it makes more sense if it's based on how high the viewers rate it, but it seems dramas are rated by how many people watch it in japan. =x if that's so...i think Liar Game got GENERALLY low ratings because of its time slot (11pm). but, RELATIVELY speaking, its ratings are pretty high for such a late time slot.

Wasn't it... Golden Week or something in Japan when the series was going on? I heard other shows did not have good ratings like they were supposed to either... Idk.
The fact that it's shorter than other dramas, has no opening/ending songs, and has no Johnny's boy as a main character might have affected the ratings also. idk this is just my opinion though. I thought this series was so much better than Proposal Daisakusen (sorry to Pro Dai fans >.<) but I thought the ratings were higher for Pro Dai because of Yamapi.

The drama isn't draggy. Only the last episode is slightly draggy. But overall it's very good
And yeah I agree. If they change the cast I'm not sure if I'll love it like I loved the first season. I'll always have an image of Matsuda as Akiyama and Toda Erika as Nao!

it was a good ending~ but i thought it was better if they added something about what will happen to akiyama and nao.
it was kinda surprising to me that the girl was the daughter of the sponsor of liar game! i thought she was just someone who was in debt to him after playing liar game or sth like that.. then decided to work for him instead of paying of the debts.
the part where yokoya was tricking everyone was really intense!
so at the very last part, there was gonna be another round of liar game? and that girl was exactly like Nao? lol. interesting. i wonder if there're going to be similar dramas later on..
and yes, i agree to the people above.. ratings are just numbers, y'know?
i recommend watching this series for ANYONE~

wait..when did it say that she was the daughter of that old guy? does anyone know who that scary tv guy is? i love the ending when Akiyama just smiled it was soo sweet. i love Matusda he was a really good actor in this. i think if there is a second season to this it will be kinda boring since like everyone knows the game unless they switch it up. i think i would prefer the original cast
