a friend of mine had been to SM's Global audition and failed. he tried out for a different entertainment in the US and now is filling out an application to go to LA. He has a manager there, who said that SM only does global auditions to raise popularity, and tells all the people who tried out that they didn't make it.

is it true?

*note* now i'm gonna visit this topic very often because it is a really big deal for me..... so not to be bossy or anything.....
please no,"o really?", "OMFG!!!!", "is it true?" or "i doubt it" cause that's kinda spamming in this case. i'm asking if you think that it isn't true or if it is true, what's your proof? Cause i don't even have proof unless i've met that manager for myself. Even if i do meet her, the question is, does she have proof?

so please.... try not to take up space with useless comments....

sorry i'm i'm asking too much from you guys.....TT.TT

well i dont think thats true.. i mean..for popularity? SM's already pretty well known so I don't think they would hold auditions for just that reason. (plus there are more effective and time efficient ways to promote themselves) They just don't choose that many of the participants i guess

[edit] oops i guess this isnt really PROOF. sryy

I don't think that's true either. Why waste any talent that you discover? From an article I read it seems to me that LSM is more than interested in finding some of his future stars in those global auditions. You may say that's he's only lying and doing it to promote SM, but I just don't think that's neccessary.

its not true --;;

one of my friends ARE in sm and i asked her and she said "sm is already too famous"

and besides one of my other friends (she got 1st place in the choosuk for sm town) was called by SM multiple times to try out for a second audition after global. i don't think that means that she failed. sweatingbullets.gif

That doesn't sound true at all...why waste millions of dollars to find people and not find anyone at all, even if it was a big promotion scam - they'll still see people - and if it was a promotion scam why bother filming the auditions? They must've wasted thousands of yards of tape filming people...I mean they filmed everyone and the judges seemed really interested - if it was fake...wouldn't they not care? (Not really iron proof but makes sense I think...I went to the audition and it seemed real to me) Some execs came out to talk to people they were fond of - you could see their interest in certain people.

Sounds like your friend isn't too talented and the manager is lying to make her feel better? Because I mean people pay for managers...maybe the manager doesn't want to lose a client sweatingbullets.gif Just a maybe...I don't mean no offense.

I don't think that's true because if I remember correctly, a few soompiers were called back. I haven't checked the thread in a while (and it's so long that I wouldn't want to prune through it anyway) so I don't know if any of them made it, though.

nope, it isn't a fake.

many people made it,
and some are already in korea right now training.

SM isn't stupid enough to spend all that money and time just to
travel and watch auditions for something "fake".

Nahh. LSM is a smart man. He wouldn't waste money to 'raise' SM's popularity. That's a dumb strategy.
If you read the article on the LA Times, he's interested in finding new future artists from the US.

well from what i heard in one of the auditions thread (the performers section) is, they didn't record everyone but they still kept the audition going so i guess its not really fake but not everyone was recorded (which meant it was pointless to audition)

He is right. It's merely for popularity.
