Wow. I feel your pain. My hair totally sucks too. It's naturally really poofy and has random small waves but I got it straight permed about... 3 times now and it's nice although it is starting to grow out again and is giving me a hard time. I'm not sure what to do either, I don't want to straighten it again because it does a lot of damage to your hair. Maybe just experimenting and trying to find the right products will help a little? Good luck!

try those leave on conditioners that would usually do da trick
leave on conditioners help the hair get back it's nutrients so like u should leave da conditioner on for like 10-15 mins and rinse it out well that is wut my hair stylist told me to do since i had uncontrollable hair -__-

eitherr....
- get a straight perm
- really nice hair straightener (usually over $100)
- hot oil your hair
- deep conditioning

and uhh.. that's all i can think of right now. every is money money money. - - i have the same problem as you do but my hair is layered. i used the new pantene pro-v time renewal deep conditioning. i used it every other day coz my hair is REALLY REALLY dry like hay like your hair probably. it feels so much smoother and softer. first i shampoo my hair, use the deep conditioner, comb my hair and let it dry on it's own (SUPER FRIZZY >< haha), after it's dry i put biosilk on then i straighten my hair, apply another small amount of biosilk and comb my hair! and that's it. yeah.. it takes sometime but it works for me! smile.gif sometimes when i just shower and let it dry on it's own and sleep at night i wake up and my hair is smooth and soft. i just brush my hair and that's it.

Doesn't take alot of time and makes it really straight!~

why wont she let u thin your hair? Does she know what the process is? It's just different scissors its no big deal. Ask her to take u get hair cut coz u want layers. And normally when you get your hair done layers they thin it out without even asking.
You want to make sure all your shampoos and conditioners are for your hair type. So pick the curly brand, its more gentle. If you have money (well for everything i'm going to suggest you're going to need a lot of money) try Aveda products. They have a line called damage therapy that is good. You also want to do a leave in treatment every week. For that you can try a homemade hair mask. Google the mayonaise one on how to do it. Also try getting a new hairdryer that is ceramic tourlamine. With tourlamine it actually blow drys your hair in HALF the time (like 5 mins) so your hair wont be exposed to heat as much. I've seen reviews of girls saying they have frizzy hair and iwth a good blow dryer ( http://www.folica.com/Top_Rated_Hair_Dryers.htm i myself bought the sedu ulta power) it makes their hair shiny and soft. Then lastly a good ceramic iron will perfect your hair

You sound like you have hair just like me. I'd recommend NOT using thinning sheers because you don't seem to have A LOT of hair, but just hair that is really poofy and half-curly/wavy.

Did you want your hair straight or curly? If you want it to be curly, it does help to buy shampoos and conditioners meant for curly hair. A lot of brands now are selling things for curly hair. And for some reason, when I let my hair naturally dry, it poofs up too so what I do is either a) towel dry my hair until it's only slightly damp and blowdry my hair or cool.gif I put my hair in rollers and either let them air dry or blowdry it.

If you want your hair straight, you can always straighten it like you currently do, but it does ruin your hair at a faster rate. What I like to do is usually the day after it's straighten, or whenever I wash my hair after straightening it, I'd use a really good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Once a week, I'd also use a deep conditioner too.

I hope I helped in some way. =)

i have naturally wavy hair too, but it's the nasty ugly poofy kind. i usually get perms to tame the waves but i was so sick of curly hair i didn't get a perm this year. but i didn't want to get the magic straight because it makes your hair too flat. so i just straighten my hair everyday. it doesnt take more than 10 minutes. and surprisingly, my hair isn't that damaged and i've been straightening it everyday for about almost a year now.

I say u go get layers, that would make it faster for u to straighten ur hair.
U can also take a shower before u go to sleep, wait till it dries around 85% and then sleep on it and then the next morning, it wont be as poofy. I dont recommend it if ur a alot-of-turning-head sleeper.

Another way that i promise would do the magic is magical straightening. It's expensive but it's totally worth it.

And last but not least, u could always tie ur hair up and learn different way of styling ur hair when it's tied. :]
