I'm actually interested in changing my majors to accounting/marketing/public relations as well.

Does anyone have any experiences/info they can share that might be helpful?

syracuse is known for its communication majors, ie broadcast journalism, print, advertising, PR, etc.

newhouse.......taht's the reason i went there......anyway you probably wouldnt work in human resources if you majored in PR. Public Relations means you are liason or middlemen between the company you work for and the public.

UCLA has a great communications major. it's regarded pretty highly i believe ...but it's really competitive so it's hard to get in to. but once you're in i think it'll be pretty sweet.

SDSU has a good comm major as well.

i'm not sure of any school that has ADs or PR specific majors. but i want to get into PR and i think a comm major would be pretty helpful

I've been researching for summer internships at PR firms and in broadcast/print media and what they usually look for are Comm majors or English majors.
Very rarely do they ask for any other other majors if that helps. :]

UCLA's comm major is difficult to get into because you need a 3.7 GPA to enter. There's also a good group here that you can apply to called AdTeam which offers a great experience since it deals with advertising. =) They compete in competitions and such and have different sections in there such as accounting/media.

*You can apply as whatever major to get in here, it's just that after you take the prerequisite classes needed for the major you have to apply and it's rumored that they only accept 3.7 + x.x

yeah there are rumors that go around that says you need a certain GPA. but really it depends on the applicant pool. it's impacted so the number of students accepted into the major equals the number of graduates for that year that's why it's hard to get in bc numbers vary. the best advice that my counselor told me is to get straight As to which i answered "uhhh Okay.. sure it's that easy right?" blaaah comm is just hard to get into at ucla try Cal i don't think you need to apply you just need to declare.
