Unlike Lil' Kim and Ron Fair, Robin Antin examines the contestants beyond their performances at the lounge. Antin assigns the girls their pieces, and in most circumstances chooses the groups, which vary from round to round. Occasionally, she assists choreographer Mikey Minden with the dance choreography, and collaborates with the wardrobe prior to the girls' performances.
When the judges reach consensus on who will be eliminated, Antin is the one who makes the announcement. She makes a recurring statement to the loser: "It's time to hang up your boa. I'm sorry, you will not be the next Pussycat Doll."
Announced by host McGrath as the most popular female rap artist, Lil' Kim also appears at the lounge. There, like Antin and Fair, she shares her personal advice to the girls minutes before their performances, provides her thoughts about them afterwards, and discusses with the other two judges in private.
President of Geffen Records, Ron Fair shares similar responsibilities as Lil' Kim. However, Fair is often noted for criticizing the vocal aspects of the performances.
