i was looking at some cameras to buy and i came across the Sanyo Xacti VPC-CA6 Digital Movie Camera...i thought it was really cute and it's actually cheaper than regular digicams...plemix has it for $245

the thing is as cute as it is i still wanna make sure its worth buying...im kinda confused tho...is it more of a digicam or a camcorder?
heres the info:

* CCD: 1/2.5-inch; 6.37-megapixel CCD (total)
* SD memory card; 4 GB SDHC memory card compatible
* Lens: Built-in ND filter
* Photo Range: Standard: 10 cm (wide)/80 cm (tele) to infinity; Super macro: 1 cm ?80 cm (wide)
* Focus: Auto (Stills: 5-point AF/Spot AF; Video clips: Continuous area AF); Manual (16 steps)
* Filter Function: Standard/Cosmetic/Monochrome/Sepia
* Video Clip Correction: Digital image stabilizer for movie; Flicker reduction; Wind noise reduction

but i have nooooo idea what that means...o.0
so advice? should i buy it? has anyone bought from plemix before? its my first time buying something so expensive off the internet and im kinda nervous

I read a review about it and the person was basically like "If you just want a cheap and sturdy camcorder, this is it but you cannot expect much more from it" -- like even though it's a camcorder, it lacks in quality compared to say a mini-dv camcorder since the formats are different (mini-dv vs sd card); plus the photos aren't that great either. It does what it does for the price you pay but it's not anything GREAT. I'd probably save up a little more and get a Sony DSC-M2 or something.

If you're more interested in photo quality, why don't you opt for a regular digital camera?

because if it takes good pictures and is a somewhat decent camcorder...its a pretty good deal no? most digicams are around $300

You can get a Sony W30 (6.0mp, 3x optical zoom, good video) for $180 at bhphotovideo.com. And Sony's known for decent video recording capabilities compared to other digital cameras... The photo isn't as great as Canon or Fujifilm but it's still better than the Sanyo... And cheaper too wink.gif

That's the deluxe accessory kit with memory stick, warranty, extra battery and stuff...

The camera alone is $180 if you even bothered looking through the entire page... dry.gif
