Hi. I am planning to buy the Microsoft Office 2007 since there's a good promotion going on. I'm unsure though, whether my old files would be compatible with the new Office. I don't want to not be able to open old Word files etc. Does anyone know if the files are still compatible?

yes, however they aren't backward compatible really. Meaning Office 03 or XP won't be able to open 07, since 07 uses XML file formats. However there is a patch online for older office programs that will fix this, but most people won't have this patch installed or know about it.

yes, word 07 can open older word files, but like what xarthan said, older versions of word might not be able to open .doc files saved by word 07

Word 07 uses DocX, I set mine to default save to DOC...

My laptop came with a 60 day demo of office 2007. I must say I absolutely hate it can't find anything in there!

u could if u dl a window compaitible along with microsoft 2007 so tat u can open the file... like they send me an email so tat i can dl tat program to open others files? so0o... r u plannin to buy it? cos i tink there's a site tat u can dl for free if u kno how

hah yeah, as awdark said, just be prepared to not find what you want.. everything is so jumbled up -___-
i swear i was going crazy not being able to find how to format the page.. anyways, i use it now. it's really good, i must say

I've bought it and trying it out now, it is hard to find things but hopefully I'd get use to it . Thanks for the help!!
