*This topic has no offensive statement about any of the artist below.*

You know Visual Kei right?
Well, I have known it recently. It is a type of band that puts their look on the same level as their music. They generally have very interesting outfits. As you know this type of music has become very famous. It's not just famous for the rocking metalic music, also for the artists like Gackt, Miyavi etc.
But I've heard that most of these Visual Kei groups has members coupled with androgyny. Then I ve found some info like that in Encyclopedia Visual Kei I dunno, but neither Miyavi nor Gackt looks androgyne sleep.gif. But they have got their name in the Famous Androgynes List! Don't believe me, then SEE THIS {Famous Androgynes}
Please make it clear. I don't know, but can't believe that they don't fit cleanly into the typical masculine and feminine gender roles of their societyor may be "between" male and female, or as entirely genderless. (not trying to make any offensive view *see on top*)
Well, most of the websites label them by masculine pronouns like he/his etc.

Secondly,If you know which Visual Kei bands are normal (Not having androgyny) please post the names in this thread. List of Visual Kei Bands

lol, i think it's just used as a general term to describe them, not necessarily to put them as literally as genderless or being able to go either way.

gackt DID used to put a lot of makeup on, as did miyavi, and those images would OF COURSE stay with them, yeah?

uhhh i don't really think visual kei bands are "normal." they're "visual" for a reason, yeah?

The reason why is called "visual kei" is because this genre of music supports almost half of their whole concept in the way they look. the other half is supported in the music.

I don't think there are any visual kei bands that fall in your term of "normal" . If that was the case, it wouldn't be visual anymore.

And Gackt and Miyavi may have change their image a little bit, but truth is they are considered visual because of the way they dressed and the eccentricity of their looks. You can't deny they have femenine feautures or bishounen-like faces.

I wonder why you are asking for "normal" looking visual key bands though. If you like the music, shouldn't mind too much the way they look.

Look up Miyavi when he was Miyabi in Due le Quartz - I find it pretty hard to belive that wasn't androgeny(sp?).

A lot of Visual Kei is costume art, but it doesn't mean they are redefining their own genders.

And that is just a list from Wikipedia. Anyone can add or create a list like that since Wiki's info is from submissions online.

Visual Kei is what it is because it ISN'T what you the original poster define as "normal." Take "visual kei" and subract the "visual" part and you've just got regular J-rock band that sounds like a visual kei band.

And visual kei does not always equal gender-bending and androgyny. Look at bands like Buck Tick or Pierrot, both of whom were considered visual kei, but didn't look like girls (in my opinion.) Though what I see as androgynous might be different from what most people see as androgynous....

As far as Gackt and Miyavi are concerned I don't consider either to be visual anymore... Gackt recently has been looking for visual kei, but his style of music hasn't sounded it. *shrug*

ahha when i see "visual kei" i immediately think of x-japan =D
they emphasized alot on their looks! and they put much more makeup than girls =X

so does their vocals matter that much since they're visual kei? hmm.
