That Time Again - Picking Classes For Next Year! What are you going with? I'm having trouble choosing...(help?)

My biggest dilemma is all about whether to take a fairly easy math class next year (Statistics), or take the leap for Calc AP. I'm in Math Analysis (pre calc) right now, and passed last semester with a B, and probably will this semester too. I haven't heard much about Calc AP, but one kid at school said it was easier than Math Analysis?! Has anyone taken it, got anything to say about it? I've never taken an AP class before, so I'm afraid that if I don't take any APs next year either, colleges will think I'm not trying. But I also don't know how hard it is and if I can handle it.
Other than that, though, I'm taking British Lit/Co, Civics/Economics, and Bio. Still deciding on my electives. I have such an urge to have two study halls. How about you, what are you taking? Any dilemmas of your own?

I'm going with.
+ AP English 11
+ Chemistry for Health Science
+ Pre-Calc
+ Graphics as my elective since there's nothing interesting to take
+ Mandarin 3
+ AP US History
I don't have any dilemmas this year but I know I will next year since there's more choices.

-Calculus AP
-English Literature AP
-Gov't/Econ AP
-French 4AP
-Physics AP
-Art History AP
I'm so excited but my advice to you is that you should try to take a couple of AP classes. As long as you are willing to work at it, they should be fine.!!!

Holy crap! =_= You're taking so many APs. In my school, we're only allowed to take a maximum of 4 APs...and we have to get waiver for that.
I'm gonna be a junior next year:
+ Bio AP
+ Spanish AP
+ Computer Sci AP
+ Pre-Calc Honors
+ Eng Honors
+ Physics 1

Are you planning to take Calc AP AB or Calc AP BC?
I heard BC was really hard.
But since you haven't taken any APs yet, I would suggest you take Calc AP because it shows that you're up for a challenge.

these are the classes i signed up for:
AP Literature
AP Biology
AP Government/Honors Economics
AP Calculus
Physics
Leadership
no rest for me, i have to continue to work really hard
though, in actuality, i would drop AP calculus in a heartbeat.i despise math. it's my worst subject. i've had bad teachers for the past 2 years, so i'm pretty much behind & i'm retaining the information. it's just that when it comes down to it, it's competition & i know if i have the drive, then i can get through it.

Should I drop Math + Science all together? I'm trying to get into (minimum) a UC school and I'm sure that it wouldn't look good on the application if I'm not taking it. I've already finished the prerequisites, 2 units of science [I took Honors Biology & Chemistry] and 3 units of math [I've technically done 4: Algebra I, Honors Geometry, Algebra II, Intro to Calc]. I know it says 3 recommended units of science and 4 recommended units of math. I'd really like to take Physics but it requires concurrent enrollment in a math (calculus) and I don't want to take math
I know it sounds lazy, but I have no "fun" classes (save "Aerobics" if you'd call it one) and I was hoping to take Psychology or even Anthro or another art, etc.
I already know I don't want to major in any math/science related field (I feel that I'm stronger in English and French). However, do you think colleges will interpret my dropping math + science as "lazy" ?
Anyhow, I'm a senior [08!!] next year and my schedule is:
Fall
AP Literature & Composition [scared
AP French [lol, less than 10 girls taking it xD]
Christian Vocations
[AP?] Government [debating on it]
[Physics?]
[Calculus?]
Spring
AP Literature & Composition
AP French
Religions of the World/Search for Truth
Aerobics
[Physics?]
[Calculus?]
Other classes I might take:
US after 1945 [study history after WWII + listen to music from each era, 50s, 60s, etc.]
Psychology
Anthropology

i guess my school does this early??
my schedule for my junior year:
Honors Pre-Calc/Trig
AP US History
AP English/Composition
IB Bussiness & Management
AP Environmental
Spanish III
AP Psychology
Sports
yep.
i'm doing the stupid thing. taking 7 academics & taking sports after
i couldnt decide between AP psych and sociology
but took AP psych b/c it's an AP. i'll probably take sociology next year..
simpleandpink:
i highly suggest that you keep taking science & math
especially UC's,
b/c those who apply to UCs have all the a-g requirements
AND has lots of extra (ie: 4 years of science & math, etc)

AP Chemistry
AP US History II
AP English 11
AP Computer Science
Pre-Calc Honors
Child Care
Child Care is a two-period class so I had to lose one elective. I was planning on taking AP Psychology as well but I guess I'll just wait until next year. I was also thinking about taking another foreign language class since I'm already taking Chinese III this year and that's the highest it can go in my school. Then again, I'd rather not complicate myself by learning a new language and forget my Chinese. I wish there was an AP class for Chinese

I would say that if you have a B or better in Math Analysis/Pre-Cal, you should definitely go on and take Calc AP. I started out with Algebra 2 as a freshman, so I am taking Calc AP this year. The only choice for me is Stats AP unless I decide to take the Calculus BC course at the community college. Which is one of my dilemmas.
For sure, I have planned on:
- ASB
- English Lit AP
- Gov AP / Econ AP
- Stats AP
- Physics (there is no AP course)
- Intermediate Drawing
I'm still hesitant in the Intermediate Drawing, because it seems to have shown up out of nowhere. Especially when I had taken Intro to Art as a freshman, and didn't continue with it until now. I've always wanted to take art classes last year as well as this year, however my schedule did not permit any extra space. I was originally planning on signing up for Photography because I am really interested in the particular area, however I don't want to be in a class full of freshmen and sophomores. asfdjlk; I blame my "If I have another class, it'll lower my GPA" mindset.
Now, I just don't know if I should add Journalism to that because ASB will be my zero period, and I might as well stay through 6th period. But that might just require too much time out of the extra studying/ college apps/ etc I could be having.
Blah.

I'm taking AB right now, and it's sort of difficult, but I think it's actually a lot easier than PreCalc was.
PreCalc tends to sort of go all over the place - probability, vectors, polar coordinates etc - but Calc really builds on itself.
The problem with taking Calc AB (I've heard) is that colleges only accept the credits if you've also taken BC cause in uni the Calc course is ABC or something like that.
But yeah...senior classes, I have no idea what to do.
- AP BC Calc
- AP Spanish Lit
- AP/Honors Physics?
- Shakespeare Honors
- Great Books Honors
- AP Art History
And then there are a bunch of half year courses that I want to take.
- History of Warfare
- History of Africa
- Literature of Dissent
- Satire in Wit
- City in Lit
- Investments
And there's American ID that everyone has to take.
They're finally letting us choose our courses, and there are so many I want to take but there's not enough space in my schedule. Arrgh.
