darn. im still wondering if i should dorm with a friend or with somebody i dont know..

i think im going to pick someone i know. if i pick a stranger.. that means ill have to change in front of them [come on, not everyone is going to change in the bathroom] andd that'll be weird if its someone whom i dont know. plus there is a chance that the roomate will be kinda cuckoo.

heres a creepy roommate story: my sis's friend HAD this roomate for her freshmen year.. they fought over a stupid issue (facebook issue i think. really stupid) and the roomate got so angry that she took a pair of scissors and cut a chuck of my sis's friend's hair. yup. talk about CREEPY. after that incident, she requested a roommate change.

although that's a good point above, i think that the point of college is to go out and meet new people. everyone's worried about rooming with a weirdo, but truthfully are there tha many weirdos out there? i'm sure there are personal issues you and your roomie could work out.. anyways i'd room with someone completely new just for the experience because you cann always request a room change

^ yea i totally agree. for one, i am DEFINITLY going to dorm...a huge reason is so i can meet new people. i agree that it will be easier to have a close friend...or cousin or something cuz it wont be as ackward. but....meet more friends!! have fun!!! and if you dont like them then yea, just request for a room change.

unless you really know how that person's lifestyle is and are comfortable adjusting to it, i would go with a random roommate.

sometimes people take certain liberties (ie eating your food, borrowing your clothes etc without asking) because they assume it's "ok" since you guys are friends.

usually with someone that's more of a stranger, you don't have to worry about that sort of thing.

Rooming with a friend can either be an amazing experience, or a horrific experience that will completely ruin your friendship. (I have friends who experienced both sides of this.) I would recommend rooming with a stranger as well

and if it happens to be really bad vibes, you can always try to change rooms

my bro's a freshman and he's rooming with this guy thats almost polar opposites from him
but they get along fine
though somehow, I have a feeling guys are more at ease with rooming with strangers than girls?

I'm a college freshman and I know of these two people who were best friends throughout high school, but after moving into the dorms, they pretty much stopped talking. If you plan on rooming with a friend, be prepared to face changes in your friendship (they're not always good..)

I chose to room with someone I didn't know and it's working out REALLY well. For the most part, all the roomates in my hall get along really well, with the exception of one or two.

Although it was def. be a new & exciting experience to live with a stranger, if I could, like if any of my friends are going to the same college I am, I think I might just pick someone I know, just because it'll be more comfortable for the first part of college. You can always meet new people from associations, throughout your hall or something. & if you befriend someone & become closer, you can always live with them next year or something. yeahhhh

I might be pair up with strangers (roomate can be 2,3,4 or 5. Depending on the style) instead. I mean, I want someone to go through the same thing as me. My sister said that she don't mind pairing up with me but she wants me to explore for the first time in college. XD

my brother's first roommate and him became good friends and they learned a lot from each other
