wrestled in middle school & high school, now a sophomore in college wrestling on a d-1 wrestling team. the difference between the high school & collegiate level is gigantic. state level competition is pretty much a given for every match, but it's even higher than that.. even the former 2x state champs lose or get tech'd.

also.. pa hs wrestling > ohio/nj > cali/ny > rest

yeah i've heard about college wrestling... must be godly. how do you get tech falled are all the college wrestlers very based on foundation wrestling? like... simple single legs, doubles, tilts, etc... not all that leg riding bull crap.

i'm a varsity 160s folkstyle wrestler

i wrestle 125. na it's not godly, although some kids are straight up beasts haha. it's easy to score points even on good guys with tilts. one of our ranked guys #12 in the nation Jon Oplinger, all he does is doubles and he'll major or tech kids.. he doesn't even ride them or try to turn them. he just takes'em down and lets'em back up. i mean sometimes he'll switch off to a single from the double, but he shoots in for a double each time. legs can be good if you use them.. if you don't use them it's not a big deal and if you do use them you better be good. i'm a second string guy and was told i might have to wrestle tomorrow but i'm like 10 lbs over... but i think the 1st string guy is ok to wrestle so thank god. that saves me a ton of time hahah and my grades since i have an exam tomorrow.

right now must be post season for you.. if not states besides ny/nj/pa (districts for them this weekend). how is it?

actually it was CIF for me today for california state (CIF is a step down from masters). I placed 5th =( i'm a junior in highschool right now so i only have next year to pickup and then its all over. i'm not sure if i'm gonna wrestle in college.
and yeah... seasons pretty much over i have a pass to 24hr fit i got just this year hoping to bulk up this summer a bit.
i actually don't have that "ideal" wrestler's body i'm actually 14% body fat X_X and most people usually have that "firm" kind of fat, but i... i have that "jiggly jello" kinda fat hahahaha

i do single legs like i'll use simple setups like arm drags etc...
on top i just arm chop try to get a tilt rotation going on... armchop, tilt >>> double bar arm, tilt >>> etc
bottom.... standup standup standup standup!!!

lol pretty basic i don't do well with all the fancy moves =\
to the guys i lost to in CIF they seemed to do very simple moves as well
all the leg riders... i just hipped into them and threw my hips over it works a lot.
for some reason i never win by pin lol its mostly by a major which doesn't really help my team as a pin would.

eh i don't know what CIF and masters are... but don't worry about bulking this summer. just learn new moves, perfect your technique, and get stronger/quicker/more powerful. physique doesn't mean a thing man... i watch my short fat teammate beat tough dudes just because he can wrestle.

i do single legs too... i've shy'd away from arm drags for setups because good people can feel it coming. what we work on in the room are just basic collar & arm tie to a snap (snapdown), post hi-crotch (or post hi-crotch fake to a single). or if i wanted a hi-crotch... i could pull the opponent for a snatch single but go for the hi-crotch instead. what's been effective for me in taking down good kids is 1. fake hi-crotch to a single/fake single to a hi-crotch 2. controlling the elbow 3. finish asap

what i do from an open tie up is post on the head with one arm and then post the elbow with the other arm and go in for a hi-crotch, then restep for a single leg. they react and then they've got all their weight on the single leg you want. or if the opponent collar ties on your head... pass it by for a hi-crotch OR fake the hi-crotch for a single. you can mix so many moves, that's why i love neutral haha.

yea all the good guys rely on the basic moves... no fancy schmancy stuff. arm drags can be drilled another time, the basics are elbow posts, faking to the opposite leg, snaps, pass-bys, throw-by's, etc.

i always sucked at pinning good kids since i suck on top lol..

you make a wise choice in not wrestling in college. i didn't wrestle my freshman year and i don't regret not wrestling.

also, for the snap to a post-elbow setup... it can also be a snap to a pass-by (to a hi-c or fake hi-c to single) if the opponent has his collar tie tight.

i'm currently trying out softball.

the jv coach says that even though it's my first time, since i'm improving so much, she'll pull me up to jv.
the thing is, i feel like i won't be able to learn as much or be able to play any major positions if i'm in jv.

what's ripping me is that all my friends are in jv, and i'm stuck with snotty freshmen who think that they're the bomb just because they are more experienced.

but beyond all that, i'm LOVING it.
it's my first time trying out for any intense sports activities, since i've always been into dance, drama, orchestra, etc.
haha. i threw up on the first day of conditioning since i had to do twice the amount as all the other girls.

i know that i'll be in for a whole season of physical torture, but am actually looking forward to it:]]

oh yeah our coach is like collar tie is like the "perfect" setups you have so much to do form there, i use it a lot usually a snapdown >>> double
i try high crotches >>> single leg but i need to work on the switching speed.... so usually go from collar tie (keeping an elbow of course) >>> high crotch >>> finish with the fireman it's a lot more simple than sliding directions into a single (since i'm lazy hehehe)

yea it all depends which tie you like.. like open ties (not touching), loose ties (wrists), and control ties (underhook and a wrist). i like the collar tie, post, to a hi-crotch, just switch to a double not a firemans haha. either a double or crackdown.

A lot of you guys do tennis and swim. I do Lacrosse and Track. Lacrosse I'm getting better, might even make Varsity this year but I don't mind making JV. JV is so relaxed compared to V I think I might even prefer JV. For track this year I made V but I'm so bad >.< Never even won a race. Best I got was 4th place out of 6.

I'm sure you guys all heard that stereotype that says most if not all jocks in high school are horrible in academics. But I personally don't believe that. I find time to involve myself in the school Marching Band, community service, hanging out with friends, chilling at home, and dealing with a handful of AP and Honors classes. I will admit though, that I probably could have done much better in academics if I didn't focus so intensely on extra activities. I have regrets about not studying and achieving in academics to my fullest potential, but there is nothing that I really can do now. As I start applying to school with valedictorians and perfect SAT scorers, all I can do is pray to the Lord that I am walking on the right path.
I wonder if there are other people here also in this situation??

RIGHT ON.
my mom keeps telling me to quit softball, because volunteering, orchestra, church, dance, etc... is all becoming increasingly difficult to juggle.
all i can do is pray that i'm on the right path, going in the right direction.

I played basketball for 4 years, decided to give it a rest this year (11th grade).
My senior year I'm joining the team again and I feel its going to be a complex year.
Plus I plan on doing other activities. I want to busy myself my senior year...more like going out w/a bang.

I play tennis for my high school.
Summer of '08 was my first time actually playing tennis, so I didn't make the team.
Instead I decided to take off season to prep myself up. And I play a lot on weekends.
I have a big chance of making JV next year.

Also I'm going for other sports too, and other activities outside of school.
Even though I'm busy, I still have a 3.8 GPA in school, so those jocks not being good in academics will always just be a stereotype.
