question, is the gf deal actually true?
even before, I read tuns of blog posts about FT Island that were like "oh my friend used to go out with Hongki," "I know a girl that Jaejin dates," "my neighbor unnie goes out with Hongki" all that kind of bs.
So I'm sorta skeptical about it. If they really do, good for them (they are living a normal teenage life) but I doubt they even have time to date. I mean,
here's really inspiring article on how busy they used to be and still are.

"It's an honor to be compared to the Buzz. But we'd like to present our own music."

They got all the ingrediants that form the idol group: God - sent looks, sweet smiling eyes, and the cheers from tailing fans. They, however, are merely a band of 5 teenagers.

FT Island is a 5 member band, Jonghun Choi (guitar.piano,17) Hongki Lee (vocal, 17) Wonbin Oh (guitar.vocal, 17) Jaejin Lee (Base, 16) Minhwan Choi (15, drum), and has all the key points of an idol group.

The name, FT Island is the shortened form of Five Treasure Island, and true to its name, the band is consisted of 5 talents.

Jonghun has been playing piano since he was 7. He picked up guitar when he was later discovered through the audition. Wonbin, who originally dreamt to be a vocal, also started learning guitar after he passed the audition. Now, he is not only a guitarist and a vocal but also a rapper.

From good looks to talents, these newbies got it all! (SCARY!)

Hongki Lee was originally a child actor who was casted in KBS 1TV's children's drama "Magic Kid Masuri" and MBC TV soap opera "Bingjum." He also received passionate applause from the audience when he sang on the final episode of EBS's "Ggangsuni." He boasts the talents of both the actor and a singer.
Minhwan Choi, who had actively participated in his school band in 7th grade, has been drumming since 6th grade.

When asked if his parents opposed his musician life, Wonbin replied "They didnt as long as I got my school work done. We may not be top of the class, we atleast could stay in the middle." However, its not like they do music as a hobbie. They practice 10 hours every day.

"We all got together 2 years ago. As soon as our afternoon classes were over, we gathered in the studio, ate lunch, and then practiced from 2 pm to 12 am. We practiced 10 hours daily without any holidays. So I guess that makes it about 7000 hours of practicing." - Wonbin.

With their passion for music already greather than their age, they also revealed some greed about their debut album "Cheerful Sensibility."
Whatever that is being said about us, we'll fight back with our skill!

Their first album is divided into two chapters: 'emotional' and experimental 'Island.'

"As it says, 'emotional' chapter have emotional songs and 'Island' chapter features what we want to challenge as our own tune." - Jaejin.

The emotional chapter includes sweet melodious songs such as the title song "Love Sick" by Jae Hyun Ryu (Vibe) and "Man's first love goes to his grave" by Gun Yun. The Island chapter has self - introduction like "FT Island." "FT Island"s lyric, "I may seem young but I'm different. Dont look at me the same way," seems like the band's response to their critics.

"I want to perform infront of those who doubt our skill based on our looks and ages," said Hongki. He expressed the emotional agony that the band has been through by saying "I want to prove to them wrong." Jaejin defined the term 'idol' in 'idol group' as a role model for fans. "So its not wrong to be called an idol group, isnt it?"

Then the band justified themselves.

"FT Island is a band with color just like the five islands that have different looks and infinite possibilities. It's an honor to be compared to the Buzz, but instead of being called "[ ] the 2nd,"we'd like to clearly show off our own identity. Korea is not really big on band music right now, but if it does become big because of us, wouldn't there be "FT Island the 2nd?"

i'd say that it's netizen itself that is full of themselves.
koreans are like that. once they hear something,
they just can't stop it...and are believable.
it's hard to believe yeah that they're making

honestly, it's not like hongki is absolutely innocent. he did drink and smoke underage.
yeah this is completely common in korea but he's in the entertainment business now.
it's hard to control something you've already done in the past and prevent people from seeing it,
but i don't think the blame should be placed solely on the netizens.

anyways, it's unfortunate because he's definitely NOT the first.
he just happened to have a lot more concrete proof than the others
a lot of stars had dirty pasts.. so he shouldn't be mistreated because of it.

he's still young. netizens should try to realize how YOUNG both hongki and hyunah are.
i mean, behind the glamour.. they're only teenage kids.

just a quick word on antis. i feel antis are actually adding to a celebs popularity. you guys are probably thinking WTF? but if you think about it. (i think ive said this just about everywhere ive gone) anti fans are giving attention to these celebs they supposedly HATE and DESPISE. you know what, they're still giving them attention even if it is unwanted. if you truly disliked a celeb, you would ignore them. the worst thing a celeb can be is not hated but IGNORED. if you're ignored, that means they truly dont care about what you do and you wont be known. by having antis, you're getting your name spread (be it good or bad) anti fans are still fans just not nice ones lols. anyways these antis should realize that going into all this crap about hating some celeb is just getting the celeb more attention and the celeb could possibly get more fans. =OOO surprising isnt it? anyways for me, if i dont care much for a celeb, i just ignore the celeb. a celeb needs attention, ignoring = no attention = failure. but i think that "failure" might be too harsh of a word =X anyways just my thoughts.

smoking and drinking. i CANT say i HATE people who do such things since i personally know people who do. it is disappointing but i like to drink once in a while. mostly wine, champagne and 1% alcohol drinks lols. so its just at special occasions. i dont really like the smell of beer or soju but ive tried rice wine in korea (ACK!) anyways if you think about it, high schoolers drink and smoke. its just how it is. im not saying ALL do but some do. hongki and jonghun seriously (im being 100% truthful here) look the type to have smoked or drunk before. why? because they're good-looking and probably didnt study as it is. this may sound stereotypical but i dont find it surprising at all. i think it surprises me more if they never smoke or drank before well unless they're exceptionally cute and have this truly innocent image (such as MinHwan or Kim JunSu of DBSK). i dislike smoking more than drinking (personally). i dont like the smell and find it hard to breathe. all that matters is that they dont do it anymore since they probably realize that everything and anything they do will be followed by their fans as well as those against them.

girlfriends. i WANT them to have g/f lots of successful people end up marrying extremely late or never. they should enjoy their young lives, but not too many girlfriends. i feel the relationships they should pursue are ones that could last a significant amount of time. also the girl should be able to understand and like jaejin's gf be strong enough to stand the potential haters. i give props to any celeb's gf. i feel once fans are older, they are more open to their idols having g/fs but when these fans are young esp the choding (elementary kids) they're probably the harshest ones. (if you dont know this already, ppl in korea dislike choding/elementary kids a lot since they're so 'ahead of their age' not a good thing) if the boys can find ppl they truly feel for and these girls truly like the boys for who they are, go for it. =] <3

Omg, hahaha. thank you for sharing! The whole time I was watching this, I couldn't help but smile the whole time through. I kept holding my cheeks and laughing because of the fact that the fans were so loud! They were crazy! I could barely hear Hongki.
