One of my friends used his credit card to pay off his school fees. The interest rate sucks but it could be you last resort if you can't get a loan elsewhere.

i was gonna say credit cards as a last resort too. i guess another idea would be ry your bank? fanni mae?

have you actually done to your financial aid office and see if they can help you out with more loans? schools do have a reserve for students in these situations if they qualify.

credit card is definitely not a good idea. don't go that route.

i'm guessing you already did FAFSA and got grants/loans? there are so many types of loans available through fafsa... like subsidized/unsubsidized stafford loan, perkins loans, plus loan. some of them don't have amount caps.

all student loans have far better interest rates than credit cards.

Can't you just borrow money from relatives and then pay them back? I mean, pay for your college fees monthly by borrowing from relatives? I think that's the easiest way. Otherwise, all that loan stuff is a headache.

hmmm....maybe try your bank to see if they can help you out. i believe my bank has a student loan program that college students can apply for.
also, when you fill out your FASA (fin aid) can't you ask for loans?? i did, and i got at least $800-$1000 from direct loan plus some grant money too.

anyhow. best of luck to you. and i agree with you, education should be free!!!

i thought pretty much any student could get a loan. did you try to apply for a loan without a cosigner because no bank is going to believe in an 18 year old. to get a loan you're going to need a cosigner. unless your parents have defaulted on previous loans and have really bad credit, i don't see why you're not able to get a student loan.

also, don't listen to people here who are suggesting you pay for tuition with your credit card. that is one of the most stupid things you can possibly do. the interest rates on credit cards are like 18%.

i thought a majority of college students borrowed from salliemae.com. all my friends went through salliemae and so did I. with these types of loans, you can defer payment until after you graduate, which is really great because you don't have to worry about making monthly payments immediately.

first, try applying somewhere else
did ur parents co-sign for u? my parents had to co-sign my loan. basically, i am taking the loan and repaying, but should i be unable to, my parents are also responsible. i have a bank of america loan and since i have no savings or high paying job n my parents do, bank of america allowed me to get a loan with co-sign.
if ur parents didn't and won't co-sign for u, u're best bet is to find one. though, that's probably not an easy task...

question. what kind of financial aid were you eligible for? are you allowed to take out federal Stafford loan? if so, subsidized or unsubsidized?

if you're not eligible for Stafford Loan, then you have the option of "PLUS loan" (where your parents take out money) or "private loans" (where you apply AND your parents co-sign for you)...if you're an entering college student, there's NO way they'll approve your loans if you're the only person in the app.

if your parents can't co-sign (due to financial reasons), TALK TO A FINANCIAL COUNSELOR AT YOUR SCHOOL! they'll help you with other options that you may have under special circumstances.

I forgot if it was citibank that denied me, but collegeloansite.com called me back for loans the other week. Try there?
