My kitty doesn't eat treats either and he's gotten on just fine. Maybe spending more time with your kitty would be better? smile.gif Or have a look at Wysong. I've been told the products are decent.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!
i have a five year old jack russell terrier mixed with a poodle and she is CRAZY .
she has matted fur all over her paws but she won't let us cut it for her !
she is so hyper and we even tried giving her benadryl but not even that helps !
please give me some suggestions to maybe make her go to sleep so we can cut off the matted fur .
i feel like it's pet abuse to let it stay there.. ):
PLEASE HELP
thanks !

What I use for my cat's matted fur is a letter opener like this. Removing matted fur is a delicate process. Your dog is averse to it because she thinks you're going to hurt her. You need to reassure her that this isn't the case. Let her sniff the letter opener so that she doesn't feel too threatened by it. You will also need someone to carry her while you attempt to get rid of the matted fur. Keep on reassuring her that it's gonna be okay as you try to remove the matted fur. You'll probably have to try it a few times so that she learns not to fear the letter cutter. You also need to be patient and be prepared that she will squirm away, so you cannot do this for a prolonged period of time. A few nicks of the fur at any one time is good enough.

The alternative is to get your dog to a grooming centre where professionals will help get rid of that matted fur. Or... wait for the thing to drop off. My kitty has managed to work his off.

um ya. I just came back from the vets..my cat has been coughing since last friday, lost a lot of weight and having a hard time breathing when he's not doing anything..
the vet took xray pics and couldnt find what's wrong...
so he took blood samples..and I'll hear the results in around 2 days..
and gave me some pills for my cat..
it costed me 400+ tax..
after i get the results..i'm gonna have to pay more for treatment and stuff..

i know the money is worth it if i can save my cat and i'm not worried about money
but feels like my vet doesnt know anything and just doing all these things to take my money =/
it was my first time going to the vets...so ya..wasn't expecting such a big number...sigh..

he also told me it might be heart problems...

if anyone know how i can get my cat to eat more/feel better or what might be wrong with him..plz help sad.gif

Very sorry to hear about your kitty. I hope it gets better soon! It's important to find the cause of the breathing difficulty, so if this vet doesn't work, consult another specialist. But I hope your vet manages to find out the cause soon. Here's a link for further reading: http://petdoc.com/story/breathing-difficulties-cats

Okay I have a very serious problem. My dogs (one's a pit bull mix and he's seventh months old, the other's a German Shepherd at five months old) have this issue with bolting out of the door. They are HUGE and can easily knock me over so when I try to call them back, they just keep running. I always start to panic and then end of chasing them. I know it's bad but honestly my neighborhood streets are so busy that I don't know what else TO do. JJ (the pit bull mix) is not mean at all to people and dogs outside. My issue is that I'm just afraid he'll get run over because he likes to run around like there's no tomorrow. Hason (the GSD) is people and dog aggressive. He's only five months old and is already trying to start fights with dogs twice his size. He's almost attacked three kids and two adults already, as well as countless other dogs, but I've been lucky to have great timing so far. I'm afraid that will not always be the case. How do you guys keep your dogs obedient when the door is open and how do you get them to stay? They know all of the basic obedience training but for some reason when the door opens, they just sprint out the door.

If you're wondering, I do walk them. Usually it's an hour a day followed by a game of soccer in my backyard. I can't seem to get their energy level down. Also, obedient school wouldn't be a problem for JJ but it's just so expensive and I can't afford it. Hason, however, can't even go to puppy school because he starts fights with all the dogs. The only way for me to be able to train them is private training and it's even more expensive.

JJ has the most issues with this door-bolting thing. He's incredibly hyper and strong and is always looking for ways to run outside. I don't want JJ to get run over and die, nor do I want Hason to be put down for biting someone or their dog. Does anyone have tips for owners with large breed dogs? :'(

When going on walks do you just use a normal collar and leash? If you're having trouble because of that maybe you should try those collars that also extend to their bodies so it wouldn't be much of a hassle and have them run off?
Sorry, I can't really give you great advice... because I have a tiny dog ><

Ok, guys, urgent here. I got a weird question to ask. I have two dogs (as I mentioned before, Ruby and Poppy). Poppy is currently on her period and she does inappropriate actions with Ruby..like how dogs make babies. And the point is, they're both girls, how is this possible? Are they lesbians or something. sleep.gif

I remember my dog's vet saying that it was one way of showing dominance over someone, but there could also be other reasons, right?

I've never had a rabbit but I know a girl who has one. She plays with her rabbit, it's a normal pet. If you get one and spend time with it...I'm pretty sure he'll end up loving you and playing with you like a cat or a dog would. I'm not a bunny expert or anything. XD I'm just talking about what I saw.
Everybody keeps talking about the "smell". Her rabbit does not smell at all. They are pretty clean animals anyway.
I think a rabbit will smell if you don't clean it's cage regularly or clean the litterbox. Their urine can be smelly, but I think there's a product you can buy to put in their water and it neutralizes the odor. There's odor sprays for pets anyway. So that helps too.
I mean, I have a huge dog and his smell isn't overwhelming....it's barely noticeable. So I'm sure a little bunny won't stink up your house too much if you take care of him well and make sure you keep him clean.

The pit bulls jaws did not lock. This is a myth and doesn't happen in any type of dog. They do have a strong bite so no wonder your dog had horrible injuries. sad.gif

It pisses me the hell off that pit bulls get sh** owners more than other dogs do, and because of the sh** owners more and more people dislike these dogs. I mean..wow..pit bull the true American dog and look what they've reduced them to. I love those types of dogs so much.

Anyway, it's been days since your post so I really hope your poor dog is okay! O know I'd be so worried if that happened to my dog. I seriously don't know how I'd handle it. o_O

So many dumb dog owners! mad.gif

I have a 5 month old female Siberian Husky. The problem I have with her when I bring her out for walks is that she keeps pulling.I figured it might be in her genes to do so but it will look like she's a dog who has never been out of the house.I know this can be corrected but don't know how. Also, she hates it when either me or my sister walks in front of her and would try desperately to get ahead.Does anyone's dog do this? And does anyone have a solution?

i have a problem tears.gif i was playing with my hamster a while ago on top of our tv set and he accidentally fell. he landed on his back, and i thought his front leg was fractured because he just stayed lying on his back for like...10 seconds. i picked him up to check if something was wrong with him, but physically he's fine. no fractured legs or anything, and he isn't lethargic or anything...in fact he's currently running around my room while i'm keeping an eye on him to see if his behavior changes/shows that he is in pain. i found out from the net that a fall from several feet can cause serious internal injury, or a broken back... but he shows no signs of those at all. he's still really hyperactive. i'm wondering if he's possibly in danger. it's really late where i am now and i'm so scared i might wake up tomorrow morning and he's passed away or something...T.T i don't think i can sleep tonight sad.gif

They have leashes for these kinds of things. Choke chains and spike chains should work fairly well. If you don't like those they also have this muzzle leash that goes over your dogs muzzle and if they pull ahead of you the leash automatically pulls their head down. The harder they pull forward the harder the leash pulls them down. These kind of leashes usually work on a good percentage of dogs.

My dog Comet is a puppy 8 months at most and he does this thing where when I let him out of the room he just bolts, be it down stairs or outside. It isn't like I don't let him outside cause I do, he just has a habit of like being so happy that he jumps on my family members. When this first started happening a couple of months ago my mom hated him. She threatened a couple of times to bring him to the shelter, its better now because when he sees my mom he plops straight on his back and opens his legs wide open like he is trying to show the world his privates. The only thing is that when I let him outside he runs outside of my neighborhood, a couple of times past the gates. I think I am going to go out and buy him a body collar because when I try to walk him on a regular collar he tugs and tugs and I can't keep up with him and he starts to choke-cough and I feel so bad.

I got him from my aunt around Christmas. He wasn't supposed to stay with us just for us to take care of for a couple of days and then give back, but we found out he was sick and my aunt didn't want to pay for the vet bill so my oldest sis was like we had to give him to the shelter. He had Scabies, fleas, and worms. It wasn't like my sister didn't have the money for us to keep him, but she already has 2 chihuahuas and they get sick and have heath issues and she didn't want to go through that again. Comet was going to be sent to the shelter the next day, but luckily the place was closed and I am embarrassed to say this but I don't know when I got so attached to him and started to cry when I thought he was being taken away, I mean we only had him for like a month. So in the end my sis decided that she would pay for his treatment and I could keep him. He is getting neutered this saturday, and i am so scared. Like what if something happens to him while he is on the table? He has already gone through so many things in his short life I just want to make sure that for the how many years I have him he lives the best life a dog can have.

Question
Does anyone here have the issue of not knowing what breed their dog is because I do. He is a really small dog, along the lines of putting 2 chihuahuas together and i think he has stopped growing because he hasn't gotten any bigger for like a month now. One thing he has stray hair everywhere. His face as a whole bunch of hair sticking up and about.

I just got a bunny and he smells like nothing biggrin.gif -- a little like hay if he's been around it. It's his pee that smells bad D: so just keep his cage clean and it won't be too bad. Buy some deodorizers and pet sprays.

My bunny loves to run around me and jump on me when I'm sitting on the couch tongue.gif
As long as you treat it well, it shouldn't run away from you and hide. He likes to run under my bed though -.- but he always comes out in the end. The only time I've really seen him RUN was when an airplane flying overhead freaked him out haha.

Tell your mom his poop will be great for the garden wink.gif

Does anybody know why my cat is sick everyday late at night, some days its hairballs and somedays its just liquid. Sh eis three years old, eats like a horse and drinks properly, she has lots of energy, a glossy coat, clear eyes. No lumps, bumps or swells that anybody can tell, clean ears, clear breath and healthy teeth. She does not go out and she has had a flea problem, but is flea combed everyday about four times and we only found three fleas. She has been being sick everyday late at night for about 2-3 weeks. She is on heat at the moment, we never had her spaded because we could not face putting her through sergury, my Mom said it was selfish. She is only on heat for about 2 days and then goes back to her usual self.

If she's spitting out hairballs or just bile that regularly, maybe she's all clogged up with fur inside. That's not good because it interferes with the digestion of food. Why don't you take your kitty to the vet for a check-up? If it's the problem of too much hair in the kitty, the vet will probably prescribe some form of lubricant like Laxatone to help the cat pass out hairballs easily. Even if it's not that, regular check-ups are good for animals.

So, any listeners here? Long story short. This one day, I was riding bike with the kids around the neighboor. We caught up this little black puppy in the street. It was crying and shaking, these two couple in whom I thought was the owner said they just stumbled upon it and that it's not theirs. As soon as they walked away, everyone gathered around the poor little puppy but all refused to keep it due to individual reasons. We took it the my house and got trouble (as some of you may know, we already have 2 dogs) but fate got it, the little puppy is officially our dog! I thought perhaps someone trashed it because it has bugs on it's stomach, it was having diarrhea during the whole day and looked awfully weak. The following morning, we fed it, washed it, and played with it until it was satisfied. But nothing made it's diarrhea better so we quickly moved our feet to the hospital. The doctor said it was in terrible condition and needs special care. Turn out he had Ascaris lumbricoides. We gave the dog some injection for few days straight and now, I can't believe how healthy it is now. It grew a bit tall and it's disgustingly playful. My mom is giving all the bad habits to him though. I hate how she's making him sleep in the bed, plus, she just won't stop giving it human food. Her excuses are always stuff like, "It's just a baby", "It needs to grow chubby, look at it, it's so thin", etc. Mother, once it grows up with all these terrible habits, how are you ought to live off with it? So worrisome.

May I distribute some cute pictures of our dog? It's name is Maxson and 2 and a half month old.

If we make some certain noise with our mouth, he tilts his head like the pictures, he's so adorable.

that poor little kid. -___- Looks like he'll be okay now, especially since he seems to have a good home with you (he looks happy)--and good for you for giving him a better life. I have to look up what he had--we never had to deal with anything like that. It's okay that he sleeps on the bed--unless you really don't want him to (our dogs have always slept where they want--if she doesn't sleep with me, I sleep with her. lol)--but he is small. Is he a Chihuahua? How do your other dogs get a long with him?

It's okay to give some humans foods--we have a baby too, and most of what she eats we also eat(she eats 3 times a day for now)---but there are also things they shouldn't have, like chicken bones. And that he is little, and away from his mother, he might need a little bit extra--like formula especially for puppies--to help him grow well.

Thankyou for your answer. My Mum said we would give it a few days and then take her to the vet if it does not clear up. The Vet is a long way off so we only take her now and again. I hope it clears up, I hate her going to the vet, it makes me so anxious.

Could eating flies make her sick? She has a habit of catching them and eating them alive, we try to stop her, but can't all the time, we live in the country and there has been a lot this year.

I try not to give any of my dogs human food because most of the time the flavors are too strong for dogs. It could give them worms and such. You can feed your dog chicken bones but they have to be raw. If it's cooked it poses a larger threat to puncture the intestine or something else. I feed my dogs raw chicken all the time. They love it and they poop soooooooo much less then when they're on kibble. Also you don't necessarily have to buy formula for your dogs. Get some goat milk. It's the closest thing to dog's milk and puppies love it too. Cow's milk is a big no-no though.

we don't give them anything strong-flavored...boiled chicken, white rice (the rare times there's stomach problems), brown rice, yams (American-type 'sweet potatoes'), zucchini, carrots, string beans, slightly cooked beef, scrambled egg; sometimes winter squash. We never had any food problems with all the dogs we've ever had (same breed since I'm 6, so long time =p )--but this one has some food allergies-so no wheat or stuff made with wheat--the other dogs got pasta and some other stuff. Some of her brothers and sister have worse allergies, so they're on a raw foods diet, with no grains at all. Even though we have experience, we still take the advice of the dogs' human auntie--we'd never feed anything without asking. The main reason we don't do chicken bones is because they're small and could get stuck in their throats. >< And yes, moo juice is a definite no for them--she gets goat's milk every day.
