What will I have to know about getting my dog spayed?
What's the estimated price range for this operation?
What else should I know?

Thanks to anybody who can help...

There's some info about spaying here, including the benefits:

http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/myths_an..._neutering.html

and for info about prices you can check this: prices vary from vet to vet, too.

http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/where_to...r_neutered.html

if you have a vet, they can answer any questions you may have about spaying--but I hope the links give you some help, too.

Hi~

What kind of turtle are you planning to have?
Always make sure you can give your pet a good life before getting them!!!

For water turtles, they need a good, big space with good UV/light sources, and a warm, comfy temperature.
And don't forget, clean water!

Turtle Times

This is a good forum, with lots of experienced turtle owners.
You'll find info on almost everything regarding turtles here.

Good luck!
& please read through the forum before you get your turtle. laugh.gif

I HAVE A QUESTIONNN

are dogs usually scared of their vet person? o_o okay wen my dog first met my vet he was really excited and happy like he usually is around people even strangers, but after he got neutered and i took him for a check up he seems like compeletly frightened of the veterinarian only, not of the clinic or the place but as soon as he sees the vet he gets scared, is that normal?? is it because this was the man who neutered him?

It makes me really uncomfortable to keep taking my dog there now so yah any input would be nice

^ It's normal. My golden was terrified to go to the vet. She'd shake and hide her head in between my legs. Hers was a little to extreme just because naturally she's a timid dog but the vet said it's normal for a dog to be scared of the vet's/vet office. He went through a bad experience there so he automatically associates that with the vet. Try anything to make him more comfortable like playing with him, petting him, give him a treat every time you go to the vet. I'm sure he'll forget about it and outgrow it just like my dogs.

my dog used to/still do pee around the house now especially when he's angry with us-.-
and my mum will go crazy screaming around when he does it

anyway
i dont know whether this sounds stupid anot but i'm really lost. my dog is coming 3 this sept and his a shih tzu. i adopted him for about one year plus already and recently, i just came to know that he wasnt licensed by his previous owner
firstly, licening requires dogs to be microchipped. idk why but i'm super anal about it, but i really have no choice.
secondly, sterilizing him. my friends says its healthier and more hygenic but again, i'm quite anal about it. i mean, i understand that dogs mostly go through sterlization AT 6 months. but the problem is, his 3 now. will it will awkard if you just remove his manhood all of a sudden. and i dont exactly know what sterlization does, like what do they actually cut of and stuff-.-

those who have sterilized dogs. did your dog like act awkardly after the sugery.

I don't know how your dog is doing now behavior wise. Honestly if he doesn't go around humping things/people and if he's pretty calm I wouldn't. There's really no need and it's more dangerous to do it when your dog gets older. I know our vet kept stressing that we get it done as soon as possible because more complications can happen once they're older. So if he's a good dog I wouldn't.

are turtles hard to take care of? i have a little Yorkie, but recently i've really wanted to try and take care of a turtle. ^ ^ any feedback?

Hi~ I'm sorry I missed your post that day.
Yup, I've already mentioned the points to take note of, and you can find more on the forum.

Turtle Times

What kind of turtle are u planning to have?

Train your Yorkie to befriend your turtle!
It has to be good to its new 'sibling'. laugh.gif
But make sure your new turtle's home is out of bounds from other animals.

You can start feeding your baby turtle with pellets. Reptomin is a good brand.

I found another site to get started: http://www.petturtle.com/care.htm

Hi~

What do you feed your slider?

Babies tend to hate veggies but no harm training them since young.
Veggies/water plants are a staple food for adult turtles.

If you feed your baby pellets, 1 pellet a day should be enough.
But if you bought the pellets for baby turtles, maybe 2-3.
You can increase the amount as it grows.

Just remember not to feed an amount larger than a turtle's head if you're feeding pellets and/or animal products.
They can eat more veggies though.
And this applies to adult turtles too.

But again, I feed my turtles once everyday and the head rule is still too much for me.
2/5 of a head sounds better.

Turtles need calcium for strong bones and shell growth.
You should include calcium rich plants like dandelion greens or cuttlebone(the ones you can find at the bird area, unflavoured though) when you turtle grows older.

sorry if this is a bit inappropriate but I really need help on this matter..

my dog is getting bigger and taller, almost as tall as us..
he I guess because he's almost our height he always jump and hump us whenever our back is turned >__<

My mom is getting really mad about it to the point of letting it go.

What should I do? @_@

^Have you gotten your dog neutered? This usually helps deter humping or any other signs of male dominance such and marking territory and aggressiveness. Or another way could be to reprimand him every time he jumps up. A loud and sharp NO! followed by a light but firm smack on the butt wont hurt. Always push them off when they try to climb up and say NO! and turn back around and continue doing what you were doing and totally ignore him. This might be his way of trying to get attention.

Thanks so much for the information and link.
I had trouble googling how much baby red eared sliders should eat.

It's already been 3 years and it's grown a lot!

Well I'm getting a yorkie pup this weekend and I'm just wondering, are they hard to train?
The lady said that its in the middle of potty train with its wet pad thingy.
It's 8-9 weeks old already.

You're welcome~

3 years! I didn't know it's 3 yrs old.
I think you can feed it veggies tgt with 2/3 pellets already.

Carrots are a good veggie to start, turtles like them.
The vitamin A is good for eyes.
But do not make it a staple food though, it's high in oxalates which is bad for them.

Here's a food information chart for iguanas, can be used for turtles too.
Shows the kind of food they can eat and their nutrition values.

my yorkie doesn't get along with other dogs. i guess we didn't let it interact or socialize with other dogs when it was a puppy but whenever a puppy or dog comes near her, she runs away bc she's scared or she wants us to hold her. any suggestions?

Most cichlids are aggressive, but usually only when they're with other fish. If you have like 2-4 they'll be aggressive. If you have more, they'll be more intimidated of each other and settle down.... usually.

My dad bought 2 convict cichlids and threw them in my spare tank. Problem was, it's a freshwater tank. Yep, one died in like two days. Dad moved second one to my main goldfish/koi tank.

That one got owned pretty quickly.

Judging from your video, your fish seems rather annoyed being watched and being mocked by your moving finger/hand.

Nah, you're pretty screwed. You could find out when it's mating season and separate them with a tank divider when that happens.
