I am really petite--no bust or booty to fill out a dress. So I finally found a dress after a week of frustration in search of a dress that would just fit me while flatter my nonexitent figure at the same time. Ok, I bought a sexy, orangey-red dress with my best friend at Cache. I came home and excitedly showed my sis and my grandma but (dun dun dun) my sis told me that my other friend already bought the same dress, except its a different color (royal blue). I told only a few friends about it. I dont want her to know about it or it would ruin her bubble. Everyone has been telling me that I look better in the dress, though. lol--blush.gif--well, the dress does flatter me better since the color flatters Asian skin better; not to brag and all, but my flat stomach looks good in it, even though i dont have much of a bust.
AGHHH!! I dont know what to do! She wants to see my dress but I keep on finding excuses. She is gonna be hysterical when she sees me in the dress. OMG!! I am going crazy. Oh, btw, she talked to my sis about finding another dress since the dress is too plain and simple for her liking. And said that if she saw another girl at the prom in the same dress she would kill em (oh, poor me, bless my soul). Help! What do I do?

Oh, she came over to my house just this afternoon to get the skirt shortened. (its so long that you would trip if its not altered, it goes way past the feet, several inches all over the floor). She wanted to see my dress!!!!!!! crazy.gif But, again I made a lame excuse that its getting fixed. What should i do? tell her?

Just show it to her since you had already bought it, it is her choice to keep the dress or buy another one.
If I ever going to a prom, I would go to a mall that's far from where I live.

At least it's not the same colour- now that would really suck.

Just show it to her, maybe you guys could add something to the dress to make it more orignial. Like a sash or belt.

it's better to tell her sooner, so if she does decide to get another dress, she has more time to find one. she's going to find out sooner or later, better that it's sooner.

Grab a sissor and do some snipping. Alter some stuff, so it's not alike. Prom dresses are pretty similar anyways, a little change goes a long way.
or
Buy a new dress.
or
Different hair, makeup, accessory really changes the whole thing. Maybe she won't notice?

So when's prom anyways?

just show her.
you're not the one that cares that somebody has the same dress as you. she is.
if she doesn't like it, tell her to do something about it.

I think she would understand if she was really your friend. I mean, like the person above said, prom dresses do look similar unless you get one of those expensive designer ones...

Besides, they're different colors... AND you guys will have different hairstyles, accessories, etc.

haha i know this is mean but.. you DID say you look better in it than she does, right? isn't that what the whole fuss about prom dresses are about? if they're the same, who looks better? then you're pretty much ok, it's her problem if she's mad. will you be mad? [don't think so judging from your post]

yeah, ppl here are right.. you will look different with your hair, accessories.. etc! g'luck

Tell her! Save her the embarrassment cuz she's not going to look as good as you in the same dress. If she's fine with wearing the same dress in a different color, then let her be. But its only fair to warn her.

i think you should tell her..but dont change your dress though..since it was so hard for you to find it in the first place AND it looks nicer on you. just tell her now, so she doesnt hear about it from other people. she'd be less shocked i guess

I think the fact you're hiding it is worse than the fact you have the same dress. It wasn't like you purposely bought that dress KNOWING she had the same one, so she can't get mad about that but she sure can get mad about the fact that you found out and then hid it & lied about it.

^ Yeah, I agree. Just show her and let her have her little hissy fit. smile.gif

This scenario reminds me of my friend who had a little hissy fit at our formal when she thought our formal dresses looked the same colour. rolleyes.gif

... just tell her. ><"
it's the same color... that's the up side. and you could be twinnies! =X

you should've gone dress shopping somewhere you know people from your school doesn't go to often...
and some stores (especially the ones that sell prom dresses), they should keep track of people buying the dresses so that if it's two people from the same school, the second person can't get the dress no matter if it's just a difference in color (that's how it works where i am)...

but yeah, you should tell her asap. =S
