^ i'm not going into special education, but i'm going into elementary education...so we will both be in the education field!! ^^
hmm...since i'm a junior this year...i suggest that you take any exams as early as possible. by exams, i mean if your college requires you to take any exams to enter the program...do it sooner than later because it can really put you behind. for example, i have to take the PPST which consists of mathematics, reading, and writing, i had to pay tons of money to take them and i also had to pass all of them to be able to take some more requirement courses and get into the program.
anyhow...for subsidized loan...i think it is a loan that doesn't charge interest (-- i might be wrong --) and you will have to pay after you graduate from college. don't worry...i have subsidized loan too instead of unsubsidized loan...and this one guy told me that subsidized loan is better than unsubsidized loan.

I'm an early childhood major. Well, all I can say it's definitely not for everyone. I feel that I can't specialize in special education mainly because I'm just going to be too attached to the children and it might break my heart if I find that I can't help them in the way I want.
Good luck on your chosen field.

maybe you can go and ask a counselor? i mean i'm sure he/she will be able to help answering that question..
oh yeah, for those who are into Elementary, i'm also one of them. i agree with super_girlo about taking required exams early. i know this one girl who consistently did the exams, but did not pass them so so switched major. taking it early is a lot more convienient for you because you have other options.
