Fiona - Thank you so much for directing them to my tutorials!
Alas, my members show little interest in those tutorials. 99% of the hits come from outside sources.

Those are very nice tutorials

Thank you much!
I spend a lot of time doing that kind of stuff. I noticed that most of the guides available were not step by step like that. LOL Most of the members in my group are techno-phobes and need to be guided thru each step. I was hoping the tutorials would show them how easy it truly is. Unfortunately, they would rather I do it for them then learn themselves. I am so glad others can use them.
PS. I LOVE the pic in your signature. May I borrow it? (To use on my site - not here).
Thanks!

haha yeah, most of the time it seems that people would prefer that you do it all for them *sigh*

Unless you can use subtitleworkshop to convert the subs to a compatable format and turn it into a overlay like a real dvd movie does but I have never tried that process.

Sorry about that. Our site was down for 2 days. LOL Our Server God is in Wales (UK) and our physical server is in Texas. Apparantly, Texans don't understand Welsh English.
We are alive and well now and the tutorials are still there.

Encoded 16 episodes of My name is kim samsoon. 4 episodes per disk.. 1 hour each.
Encoding time... 3 hours per disk. 15 minutes to burn.
Computer: Opteron 146 2.0ghz. Overclocked to 2.75ghz... theoretically comes out to about 4100+
What I am saying is to encode 4 hours of video, it took me 3 hours of real time. My computer is probably about two times faster than the average computer here on soompi...
(Exceptions are CatGoesMeow, boka, and the rest of the tech section regulars. Also high-end laptop owners have quite a bit of CPU power)
So 3 LONG hours for me means like 5 or 6 hours for you! O_O
mtlandis.
Do you know if its possible to turn off the video preview? I see that as wasted CPU cycles to make my video encode take even longer.

It does take a long time to encode. I have an Athlon 64 with 1.5G of Dual Channel RAM It takes a little under 1 hour per 700M episode to encode then 6 minutes to burn at 12X. (Assuming it is a full DVD - 4.35G). Typically I would set up a batch to encode while I was sleeping or at work.
I have not played with Virtual Dub Mod since making that tutorial as I no longer hard sub videos. I found a site where I can torrent complete DVD copies. The files are 4+G and it can take days to finish one torrent. However, once burned, the quality is that of the original and well worth the time it takes.
If anyone is interested, the URL is http://asiandvdclub.org It is a private tracker and membership is limited. You may have to try a number of times to register. Also, they are VERY strict about ratios. If you prefer to "hit and run" on torrents or limit your upload - this is definitely not the site for you.
