Probably Rain I guess...worldwide I would guess that Rain is the most well-known.

big bang right now is on the rise. they're getting popular and more popular by the second. a lot of americans like them too. but 2006 was dbsk like it was crazy how good they were doing. but everyone like knew them. it was huge. aha

YIKES. I know Rain is well-known world-wide. However, I can't appreciate his performances. I take it that I'm weird.. Cos it's like......... he's recognise internationally and there must be some reason to it. I don't know is it me, but I find that he's not THAT popular in Korea itself. :X I may be wrong though....

In my opinion, Rain & BoA are the most recognized korean performers in the world since even my non-asian friends have heard of them. And all my asian friends have heard of both of them, even if they don`t like them.

i believe it is Rain, but then, is it just in KOrea or other countries too? 'cause someone might be more popular than Rain in Korea but not elsewhere. if it's in Korea, DBSK might be a competitor.

i think Bi is most recognized korean star too..but i think only in acting..due to Full House and his other dramas
MANY MANY people I KNOW who aren't all into kpop don't really know that Bi sings. They all know TVXQ, Shinhwa, and
sometimes Se7en songs but when it comes to Bi songs..they go "He sings?"

From where I'm at, a lot of people know Shinhwa .. I'm not sure about Bi though.

Bi and BoA worldwide. my friends who have never heard a korean song in their life know Bi and BoA.

I'm not so sure Bi is most popular in Korea though. O_O

Who's Mina? I'm from the Philippines and I don't know who she is. And I've never heard other people talk about her.

People here talk about Song Hye Kyo, Rain, Yoon Eun Hye, Joo Jihoon, etc... in other words, drama stars...

People who aren't k-pop fans don't even know Dong Bang Shin Ki and Boa.

I'm thinking Rain is the most famous.

BoA and Bi, that's for sure (: Everyone who's heard of Korean music should know about them.
Even if they don't listen to it, I'm sure they've heard of their names due to them stepping into the international spotlight, once or twice.

A lot of the comments are completely biased.

From my view, it seems that BoA is the most recognized.
Shinhwa, TVXQ, and Big Bang and recognized by k-pop fans but outside of that, they don't compete with BoA or Rain. BoA has lots of support from anime fans just for the Inuyasha theme song and Rain grabbed attention from Full House.

Come on, U;Nee, and Mina?! LOL. No offense to those two. But, they aren't even that popular in Korea. U;Nee went unnoticed until she died. Mina is only recognized during the World Cup season... lol.
