I swear, my aunt has to be thee most stingiest person I have ever met.

A week ago, my aunt was driving me to work because my dad took my car. It was a 25 mph zone, and the lady decided to drive 40 mph. I told her to slow down because I noticed that someone is trying to back out of her house. No, my aunt refused. She decided to speed along stubbornly. So guess what? A young girl rear-ended her car. So we stopped the car, and my aunt was furious. sleep.gif After her father washes the dirt off the car (she called him out of the house), there were just two minor scratches. Yes, it was visible but it wasn't that bad. She was taking her anger out on the poor girl, trust me...cursed words flew out from every corner of her mouth. So I convinced her to let it go. I mean, the girl's dad even apologizes plus she is still very young...this doesn't need to go on her insurance. I know it is a Corvette and everything, but it was somewhat her fault for speeding and not stopping (out of courtesy). So after much begging on my part, she decided to drop it.

One week later, my aunt decided...she is going to press charges on the girl. Not just for the accident, but for her health also. o_o 0_0 O_O I am not too sure on the details but just yesterday she asked me to be her witness. In all honesty, I don't want to do it but she is my aunt afterall...

Has anybody been put in the "witness" stand for car accidents? What did you do?

so she was speeding thorugh the street and had to stop fast and got rear ended? You should tell the insurance company the truth.

Why sue for somthing so minor that can be settled without having the insurance companies in the mix. She was healthy enough to yell and b1tch at the girl, so why does she need to get money for her health? Maybe she needs the money and want to make a quick buck at someone else's expense? Hopefully karma comes back and kick your aunt in the a$$

also the g can already run mid 13s stock and the hks intakes adds an estimated 10 extra hp and the exhausts add like 8 so yeah it should shove off about 1.5 to 2 sec off my times

yeah i dont get what happened, who got rear ended? Did the girl pull out of her drive way and your aunt rear ended her, or did you aunt stop and get rear ended. Either way your aunt would have had some issues if she decided to call the cops, it probably would have been apparent that your aunt was speeding and at the speed she was going the girl was probably unable to see her. Thus it would have been your aunt at fault.

her aunt was speeding through the street while there was a car backing out down the street ahead of her.... her aunt probably did a late ahrd stop causing the car behind to hit her.

Let ur aunt do whatever she wants, dont associate yourself with those kind of people, sooner or later she'll run into her match.

So... I don't think you've actually confirmed whether or not people have interpreted the situation correctly, but let's say that it's true. So, your aunt was speeding and had to suddenly stop to avoid hitting another car, and the girl behind her rear ended your aunt because of the sudden stop.

Yes, I think your aunt is blowing it out of proportion, and don't be pressured to be a witness if you don't believe in your aunt's case. If you do go to court, you are under oath so you can't lie anway.

One question though. If it did happen that way, it would mean that there wasn't enough braking distance between the girl's car and your aunt's (a responsibility of the girl's). Given that, wouldn't it imply that the girl was going at least fast enough to keep up with your aunt, and thus she was speeding too? I mean, if the girl was going 25mph or even 30mph and your aunt was going 40mph, that distance should be increasing between the two cars and the girl should've been able to stop. That's just what I'm thinking. I'm not really trying to play devil's advocate here. Of course there are many possible reasons in play here -- maybe if the girl is a new driver, her reflexes aren't quick enough or whatever, but it's still something to think about.

well...if u were in your aunt's car, you cant be a witness..so you're out of that.....a witness has to be a bystander who observed the accident and was not in either car..

no matter what it'll be the girl's fault...
if you're backing out it's automatically your fault.
I learned that the hard way!
I got completely rear-ended by a crazy woman going 60 in a 20
but it ended up being my fault.
it's always your fault if you are backing.
and you can't be a witness to an accident if you were in one of the cars involved in the accident anyways.

What's the point of suing 5 years ago this guy sue my dad 3 million because he lost the use of an organ. < don't even know what that means. Some emotional bs and all that. Now my dad passed away and w.e. Your aunt is a . I hate the people like that. that's why i let people off even when i get rear ended lightly. I believe in karma. If you become her witness and lie than you're just as bad as you're aunt.

even though most of the time its true, its not an automatic at fault for the person backing up

wtf.... the hell is wrong with your aunt? she was speeding in the first place, if she followed the speed limit none of this wouldve happened. If you do be her witness, do not fail to mention that she was speeding, tell all you know and let the judge decide who was wrong.

Haha I almost stopped reading there. Sorry, it's just sorta how you nonchalantly threw that in there that made it funny.

Chances are she's not pressing charges, just suing her insurance company for the damages to her car (like she should, she shouldn't have to suffer because someone else hit her car) and also for "Pain, Suffering and Inconvenience"
