if you rarely run, start slow. then gradually run faster and gradually run faster for a longer time. if you try to go all out your body won't like it.

Set yourself a pace when you start running and STICK WITH IT!
You'll only tire yourself out if your pace starts fluctuating. Keep it constant and don't forget to breathe! It might sound weird but a lot of people kind forget to breathe while they are running to always breathe in deep, constant breathes. Stretch before and after you run and try not to drink large amounts of water before/during running or maybe even after. When you're drinking water, take small sips and just wait for your body to cool itself first before you start chugging that thing down. =)

i heard you were suppose to breathe out when you land on your left foot and breathe in when you land on you right foot. i tried that last week and it was real hard.. ahah i don't think i breathe right when i run.
you have to start out slow.. even if everyone beats you. you start a slow pace then when you get into the middle of your run you go a bit faster and by the end you SPRINT!!!!
edit..
the breathing thing i read in this other topic. lol. when i tried it, i had to breathe really fast and i stopped since my friends thought i was hyperventilating.
but i think there is a certain way your suppose breathe when you run... anyone know?? please share!!

for me is different. i have to start like about 60%, then i'll find my pace which is about 40-50%. then at the end i sprint my heart out!! any kind of music that is fast and makes you motivate to run is good music to listen to while running. but if you just started running, just find your pace first. i use to be in cross country too!! but now i just do track.

song hye kyo aja aja hwaiitting!!!! no matter who wins...song hye kyo will be my soompi queen, and credits to nofear11877 for my awesome banner!!!!!

I run for 3-7 miles at a time. Keep it at a slow pace, listen to upbeat music, pay attention to your breathing (I go one deep breath in from the nose, two breaths out from your mouth.. hard to explain find something that fits you), and I just drift away.
Stretch, but not too much, it can lead to injuries
Eat something small 1-2 hours before. Eating something filled with carbs and protein within 30 minutes after running
