Last week I just got my braces on both top and bottom and was wondering if getting braces makes your jaw smaller? And how long it takes?
Care to share any pictures of before and after? Thanks!

my friend told me that apparently its supposed to make your jaw smaller.. but I dont know *shrugs*

well that is what i thought it was suppose to do. but then this girl in my class said that she noticed that everyone with braces have a big mouth. so i was like wahh!!?? i dunno...

i think it's after you get it off, your jaw appears smaller because your teeth are better aligned...
because when you HAVE braces on, the extra part pushes your lip and sides of your face out so overall jawline looks bigger.
it might work the opposite way for some people though, depending on how your teeth were before braces.

No, braces won't change the size of your jaw.
Since braces mainly shift your teeth, I'm pretty sure the only alteration concerning your jaw is alignment.
If that was possible, there would be no need for me to get jaw surgery.

i would think braces would make your jaw bigger. i had to wear some metal contraption a year before getting braces because i was told my jaw was too small to accommodate all my teeth and that that was why they were growing in crooked... because there was no room for them. so i think i wore this thing that was supposed to make my jaw bigger. i don't know if it worked though.

yeah i got my braces taken off
last year lol and the reason i had to get braces was because my jaw was too small to fit my teeth ...
so in a way i guess my jaw stretcehd (is this even possible?) allowing more room for my teeth while making it aligned also hahaha.

i think they mak ur jaw biiger i used to have a long face and after braces, my jaw is bigger and..squarer..now i kinda have a squareish round face boo

it doesn't make your jaws smaller, but if your teeth are aligned really weird or something and you don't get braces.. then your jaws will get bigger over time..

so i guess braces just keep your jaws from getting large.. not necessarily shrink them or anything

my jaw didn't change...but a girl i knew got braces and it got WAYYY bigger... ><''

I think it depends on how much your teeth sticks out and stuff. But, it does kinda effect your jaw.
I got mine taken off after a year.

I think it affects your jaw in some way because I got my braces in August and lately my jaw keeps on popping and the sound is REALLY loud O_O
I'm scared that I might have to wear a head gear or something T______________T

I think it just seems that way because of how your teeth are aligned
but what does aligning teeth have to do with the jawbone?
