Summer Pre-college?

I would honestly say to do something you believe is worthwhile. Those "Ivy prep schools" will only do so much for you. One of my friends did those summer pre college things every summer, one at Stanford and one at Princeton..she got right out rejected from Stanford EA this year..so it just goes to show you don't make those decisions for "college admissions", make it for you! =]
Personally, last summer, I traveled to vegas for two weeks to spend with my best friend and go see my then boyfriend (haha real hard work right? =P) and I sent about 3 weeks in China. Then I came back to the US and went to Georgetown/UVA for an International Youth Democracy Summit one week program/seminar. But I only went because I was interested in pursuing international relations in the future and I received a full tuition scholarship to attend it! =] So do a bit of research around and find some programs suited to your interests. I would spend your time trying to develop your interests possibly for college? That is if you don't know what you want to do already!
If you need any other advice or input, feel free to let me know. I could give you some other suggestions if perhaps I knew what major/field you were interested in pursuing and/or what colleges you're looking at applying to next year! Good luck

^ Definitely. Those Ivy summer prep classes are pretty much a waste of money.
Instead, I would strongly suggest you take some courses at a community college.
If your school accepts them, you could take Dual Credit Courses.
For example Government. It's a required course for seniors to take in order to graduate highschool.
You take it at the community college and you can get both highschool and college credit for that class.
Therefore when you go back to school, you won't have to take it. You also won't have to take it in college either.
In other words, you get ahead.
You could also get a job or volunteer somewhere such as a hospital or an old ppl's home.
Those will give you experience and look great on your college applications.
