I think you mean the cuticle?
But yeah, I can`t stand cold water since I take showers and if it`s cold, It makes me cold. I tried it once and it does make my hair smoother. Hot water would dry your hair a bit since everything hot does (straighter, blowdryer etc.)
You have to remember that COLD, cold water is bad too, since it won`t open up the cuticle for the shampoo to get into your hair and take out the dirt and stuffy. So lukewarm is good. =)

i had to shower with lukewarm water cause this apartment is so old and the hot water is dodgy
but i always like to shower with warm hot water. maybe i should rinse with cold water
When you're confused, just ask yourself. What do you believe in? What do you love? What do you hope for?

then before you get out of the shower, quickly rinse it in cold water
this sort of... "locks in" your hair?
yeah, works for me
and it does give it a shiney-er look

OR
if u cant even stand doing a full cold rinse. Just wash and condition using warm water and after you're all done, do a cold shot. just run cold water over your hair for 5 secs to cover it all.
