It's been like a couple of weeks since I last posted, I haven't been recording much 'cause I'm getting used to allergy season. But anyways, I wrote and recorded this a couple of weeks ago to a beat by Shadowville Productions. It's a little bit more edgy than the stuff I'm used to writing/recording, but I really loved the beat, so I wrote the song like hecka fast.
Started
lyrics by Jeffrey Phung (me)
(Chorus)
(So baby, now that you got me started)
I'm riding on a super high
Wanna dance with you all night
So, what are you waiting for?
(And baby, now that you got me started)
Are you gonna do me right?
Gonna take you on a ride
Now, what are you waiting for?
It started off Friday night
I was in the club
Just hangin' out with my boys
I wasn't in no rush
But then you walked in the room
Just like you already knew
Just what you wanted to do
Tonight
But baby that's when the beat dropped
And my heart stopped
And the dance we did turned into something hot
I knew right then, baby
I could get lost in it
Beat dropped
And the club popped
And you're telling me I gotta hit that spot
I knew right then, baby
You could make me hit it
(Repeat Chorus)
It ended up on the floor
Your body and mine
Just grindin' up back and forth
No need to waste no time
You know that I'm feelin' you
I know you're feelin' me too
No need to say what we'll do
Tonight
And baby that's when the beat stopped
With the lights off
And you whispering to me just what you got
I knew right then, baby
I was goin' crazy
Beat dropped
And the club popped
And you're telling me I gotta hit that spot
I knew right then, baby
You and I would hit it
(Repeat Chorus)

the arrangement of your verses and bridges flows smoothly... the beat was banging... typical club banger... but the vocals were smooth but sometimes muffled so i couldnt understand what u were saying til i looked at the lyrics... a better mic would fix that so your vocals would come out more clear... anyways we need to collab again.. i'll holla at u soon

dark intuitions - I'll admit, I used to really hate songs like this and I would be like, "No way I'm ever gonna sing something like that," but then I started really getting into the fact that it's just so much fun to just sing and write. Lyrically, it's like stereotypical and kinda shallow, but I was in the whole, "This is American music at the moment" vibe.
x_happydimples - Thank you very much.
AestheticMelody - Yeah, it's one of those very catchy beats. It was immediately stuck in my head when I first heard it.
amurokenji - I've been noticing that my recordings have been muffled as of a couple of months ago. I'm probably going to be buying a new mic as soon as I find a part-time job.

I love the beat and the lyrics are hot. Although the lyrics have the same message as most typical club songs, I think your choice of words are very eloquent and original. Haha, I think it's kinda funny that I'm using the word "eloquent" because I usually don't associate eloquence with club songs. But I guess the fact that I can use "eloquent" to describe your lyrics lends to their originality. One minor thing that I noticed when I first listened to the chorus was that it reminded me of "Who Are You Fooling?" because of the way you sing the chorus. I think the inflections in the choruses sound similar, but that is not to say that they are the same because both songs are quite unique from each other. Anyways, I love your new song. By the way, when did you record Babygirl? I found it in your soundclick but I never noticed it on Soompi. I love that song too.

x3wendy - Thanks for the comment.
shelly138 - Yeah, I noticed that the inflections in the choruses were similar after I finished recording "Started," but I think the melody-line is pretty simple, which is probably why it came back to me again while I was writing "Started." "Babygirl" I recorded in June of '06. I'm glad you like it, though I think I'm probably going to re-record it. Something about the flow of the chorus in that original recording irks me.
gookaddict - Wow, thank you very much.
xjustsweet - Yeah, you should hit me up on AIM more often. Glad you like the song.
