QUOTE
DEARBORN, Mich., March 30 - Ford and Shelby Automobiles are at it again, this time in celebration of the fortieth anniversary of the 1968 Shelby Cobra GT500KR. To be unveiled at the 2007 New York International Auto Show, the 2008 Shelby GT500KR—the most powerful Mustang to date—will once again mark Mustang as ‘King of the Road.’ “I’m proud to once again be a part of an historical moment, bringing back the ‘King of the Road’ Mustang, and collaborating with Ford SVT and Ford Racing” said Carroll Shelby. “I’m committed to continuously upping the ante when it comes to performance, and it’s great to be doing it with Ford.” “The return of the Shelby GT500KR further establishes Mustang as the true king of the pony car segment,” said Robert Parker, manager of Ford Car Brand. “With the unveiling of the new KR we are staying true to the promise we made our loyal Mustang fans to continue Mustang’s prowess by bringing new, exciting and more powerful Mustangs to market.”

QUOTE
Gary Davis, vice president of production and product development for Shelby Automobiles, played a key role in defining the look of the custom designed carbon composite hood for the GT500KR. His knowledge of the original GT500KR helped sculpt a modern interpretation of the original’s bulging hood scoop, a visual indication of the extra horsepower packed beneath it. The hood is secured by a pair of stainless steel, twist-down hood pins. The composite front valance houses a pair of chrome-trimmed, functional brake ducts to cool the large 14-inch, vented Brembo front brakes.

also the g can already run mid 13s stock and the hks intakes adds an estimated 10 extra hp and the exhausts add like 8 so yeah it should shove off about 1.5 to 2 sec off my times

Any car can corner. But can it corner good? biggrin.gif. The roush mustang can corner and can put on the same time as the GT500 on the top gear track with 50 hp less.

unless Ford got rid of the live axle, it isn't the "King of the Road". King of the Straight-aways is more of a better term for it.

I just saw the Top Gear episode when they drove the Shelby. VERY bad suspension. All their money went into the engine. I agree with the King of Straight aways comment. It does look nice and sounds mean.

i like the beefed up front. the rear doesn't suffice though with the muscle theme. saleen's version has really nice buttocks.

i was actually expecting a 'special edition' for korea (hence the KR?).

Yeah that was what I was expecting. I used to work for hp/compaq computers, and their Korea line always had KR at the end, so automatically I was thinking wow they are going to sell American beef in Korea! That and the huge new trade agreement that was pased between the US and Korea after a year of negotiations. It was just coincidence. tongue.gif

I agree. Front Bumper is badass...

Don't know why they kept the rear bumper so subtle.

Sigged for life.

Even with 500HP and 500lbs of torque... doesn't this car only do 0-60 in 4.8 seconds? Not saying 4.8 seconds is slow or anything... but with that much power, I'd think it would be low 4's at least.
