Old movie ??? blink.gif
It's from 2001 !

It's by Ron Howard with Russel Crowe and it won 4 academy awards, I think you can rent it in every video-club in the US.
See here.
Hop ! hop ! here is Bae Doo-Na's thread ! (and watch Linda Linda Linda !!!)

this movie was so overrated.. and i can't believe it won that many awards for something that wasn't even that great..

basically it's about a physicist (russell) and his life with schizophrenia..
Alice asked the Cheshire Cat `Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?'
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where--" said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat.

It's based on the life of John Nash, a brilliant man with schizophrenia. He eventually won a Nobel (or Pulizter?) Prize for the Game Theory. He led a very turbulent life, and his relationship with his wife was very strained and abusive.

I agree.
But to say the truth, it's build on the model of "award winning movies" dry.gif

It just annoyed me because in real life, Nash was a JERK, and he's being celebrated in this film. The film completely takes out the fact that he had another woman and child that he refused to take care of, and that he physically hit his wife. He was known for being a completely selfish jerk, and the script just glosses over all of it.

Read the biography--it's fascinating.

The movie, if it were fiction instead of a biopic or whatever, would have been much better. I thought that it was good, but not AWESOME. They totally glorified the main character. But Hollywood's Hollywood, what's new.

so it's not really truly based on real life?? i just finished watching the movie lol

if Nash was a jerk.. i feel bad for the wife! he doesnt need to be taken credit for if he has that attitude. just because he's a genius....

ahha wow we watched this in psychology the other day. i liked it. ummm its on wikipedia. haha but basically. it was about a math genius, John Nash, and his struggle with schizophrenia. He had hallucinations and he basically made up his best friend. When he got out of Princeton, he started doing work for the CIA and "meets" William Parcher, an agent. He thinks William Parcher is making crack codes for the fed govt to stop the Russians but eventually u find out the real ending. I suggest watching the movie. It's really interesting. If your low on time, go to wikipedia x] hahah

wow after the watching the movie i think ....it sucks o.o
its so different from the biography, cuz i dont think they said something about his "imaginary room mate" in it...but i guess they had to make that so that the watcher knows better how he felt like....
still prefering the book though..

now he's not a jerk anymore though...or not that much of a jerk...at least they say it at the end of the book....he's now trying hard to make his wife's life as easy as possible....i think thats nice of him =)

I knew while watching the movie that it wasn't exactly true to reality but I didn't know he was portrayed THAT differently.
hmm, I'm gonna have to check out the biography, I'm in need of a good book anyway...

I think it was a good movie.. But the bottomline is how the support of his wife and friends helped him through schizophrenia.. If it wasn't for them, he wouldn't have gotten out from it... But overall, i think this is a very inspirational movie.. Not too overrated imo...

I just downloaded it the other day.. couldn't find the dvd.. it's too old, I guess... I'm in love with the movie.... It's great effort... Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly done a great job!

I hope this is in the right section.

I love the movie "A Beautiful Mind" and I'm thinking of getting the book/biography. Has anyone read it? Would it be worth the buy?
