i just reinstalled windows xp on my laptop and now theres no volume. I checked on the mute and volume stuff so theres no problem on that. just no sound is coming out. anyone know the problem?

It's most likely the audio drivers or the speakers are just broken.

Yes, do that ^ first.
I take it that you reinstalled Windows using a Windows CD and not the 'recovery disc' your laptop may have came with (which contains all the drivers for your laptop).
1) Go onto your laptop's brand's website.
2) Find their support page.
3) Find something along the lines of "drivers and downloads"
4) Look up the model of your laptop.
5) Search for 'audio drivers'.
6) Download it. Install it. Restart laptop.
In addition to step 5, you may even have other several drivers you need to (or should) install.
