I'm thinking of getting a new digital camera but I am so clueless about these gadgets, so I need some of your advice.

Basically I'm looking for something that:
- looks nice & slim
- good quality that can last me for a while
- pretty decent-sized LCD screen at the back
- 5 or 6MP+
- long battery-life
- preferrably has its own rechargeable batteries instead of the normal AA or AAA batteries

(btw, which kind of battery is better ayways? unsure.gif i really hate finding/recharging AA/AAA batteries cus i always seem to lose them so i prefer the rechargeable kind that's attached to the camera i guess)

I really have no idea which brands are the better ones on the market right now. But I was thinking of getting probably: Sony, Canon, or Casio (not sure about this one.. I don't really hear much about this brand :X)

And here are some cameras that I did come across during my research..

Sony CyberShot DSC-T10
About the size of a credit card, the ultra-compact 7.2 megapixel Cyber-shot® DSC-T10 is doubly effective at reducing blur. With Super SteadyShot® Optical Image Stabilization and high ISO sensitivity, the DSC-T10 captures beautiful shots without a flash, where flash is not permitted or might disrupt the mood. Share your photos as slide shows set to music with family and friends on the extra-large 2.5”1 Clear Photo LCD Plus screen. The DSC-T10 also comes equipped with precision Carl Zeiss® 3X Optical/2X Digital zoom lens, InfoLithium® battery with up to 250-shot Stamina® power and 56 MB Internal Memory for capturing images without a flash memory card. The Sony Cyber-shot® DSC-T10 is available in four trendy colors including black, pink, silver and white.

Sony CyberShot DSC-T50 (Silver) (big diff with the DSC-T10?)
The stylish DSC-T50 Cyber-shot digital camera will capture the attention of others as you capture high-resolution images with remarkable ease. For enhanced control at your fingertips, the 3.0” Touch Screen LCD lets you adjust the focus with a single tap. Sony’s Clear Photo LCD plus™ technology guarantees exceptional display brightness for greater shooting precision. Hold on to the moment with exceptional detail with the DSC-T50 Cyber-shot digital camera’s 7.2 Megapixel Super HAD™ CCD imager for increased sensitivity and reduced noise. D-Range Expansion delivers great colour reproduction with reduced white-out for true-to-life images. With the craftsmanship of the Carl Zeiss® Vario-Tessar® lens and the control of Super SteadyShot® image stabilization, every shot will surely impress. Added shooting features like 56MB Internal Memory, plus Image Slideshow for quick preview with MP3 playback, the DSC-T50 Cyber-shot digital camera from Sony combines style, fun and power like never before.

Casio Exilim EX-S600
6.0 MP, 3X optical zoom, bright 2.2 LCD monitor

Please feel free to post more suggestions of other cameras! Thanks ^^

Canon Powershot SD800is is a good all-round camera! It's a bit pricey though... but I recently got it and I love it so far!

Try going to a Best Buy or something and try out the cameras your interested in

If you want a good camera, that takes good pictures definitely go for a canon, a nikon or maybe a panasonic. But casio and sony suck, though their price are great and the looks are quite cool.

Go for a 5 million pixel canon instead of a 7 megapixels sony. There's a HUGE difference. But canon doesn't have a long battery life, so if you want a good battery, try nikon's =]

A nice "slim" camera that I haven't seen suggested yet is the Fuji Z5. Unfortunately, the only color that you seem to be able to get in the U.S. is "Raspberry Red" (something like that, but it's really pink...)

Good size, with face detection. I believe it's 6MP? Cheaper than the Sony. And, it's a Fuji so the low light capabilities should be great!

A great site is http://www.dpreview.com

Goodluck!
I am on FaceBook. Ninja mode, tho. So PM me with your details and I'll add you ;D

I got the same one too. quite nice..
although I got it for significantly less ($190) also through Amazon mellow.gif

no problem with it except a few times when using it in video recording mode.

When you said "burn really easily", you mean.... the quality just goes downhill? blink.gif

Are the quality of the images still good even in recording mode? Because I know for some cameras, it gets really blurry/fuzzy when it's recording or even at night or something like that.

If you like taking pictures in the dark, or badly lit places Fuji is the way to go. Fujifilm is releasing their fujifilm z5, which is the latest one after the z3. It's pretty slim, and has a large LCD screen, and it's fuji, so pictures with low light turn out awesome.

my friend has the sony dsc t10, and it's really slim and stuff, but all the pictures look pretty bad. They're all blurry, red eye, and very noisy! Not a fan of sony digital cameras. Even the ones straight from japan are like that too; my cousin went out of his way to get one in japan, and his looks amazing but takes nasty photos.

Casio is alright, I actually prefer them over sony. But I found that if you enlarge the photos, it gets noisy, extremely noisy. So if you take pictures, don't plan on enlarging them.

The canon SD800 is very nice because it has wide angle capabilities! So basically, you can take wider pictures. If you take a group picture, instead of having everyone squeeze together like everyone else or scooting a couple steps back, you can take it and you'll get a much longer shot.

please do not PM me asking me to close threads, etc! i am no longer a mod! ^^ thanks!
