Okay. Here we go.
Q: Do you know what Hmong is? (...unless you are Hmong--please don't answer this question if you are)
a: Yes. (explain)
b: I've heard of Hmong, but not really sure what it is. (Elaborate)
c: Nope. What the heck is it?
Q: (If you answered A for the first question, continue.) What is your opinion about Hmong? (You can be honest. I promise I won't bash on you..no matter what.)
a: I hate them. They are the lowest of all Asians. (PLEASE explain)
b: It's all cool. (Why?)
c: I don't care.
Okay. Final Question.
Q: (If you answered A or B answer this question too.) Do you understand the History of the Hmong people?
a: General Vang Pao (Tell me what you know without looking it up online or asking someone)
b: History? Vietnam War right? (Anything else?)
c: Who cares? (Why don't you care?)
Okay. This should be sufficient. I'd like to explain the details of my article, but for now, answer please!
Thank you very much.

this is sad we Hmong people ALWAYS get overlooked in the Vietnam War...seriously first we get left behind to die by the hands of the enemies, then we come here to America "Land of the Free" and we get prosecuted...hey I love my own Hmong people but I feel that we're like the unknown or Atlantis race of the Asians...no home no place but in our hearts...you really have to give us credit for being a race of people coming from the mountains and forests becoming who we are today, but yet we have a LONG ways to go

Maybe it's some of the customs that gives people a bad impression.
The first thing that introduced me to hmong culture was the whole forced-marriage thing + stories.
...
Unpleasant.

My opinions of Hmong people? Can't really say, I can't give the WHOLE population of Hmong people an opinion.
I know a good amount of Hmong history...dating back to the wars against the Han.

The whole forced-marriage thing wasn't invented by Hmong people. Even people hundreds of years ago did the same thing. It may be wrong, but before you think that something is unpleasant, maybe you should be more informed of the culture first. And by the way, just because someone happened to post a thread about how horrible their marriage life is at age 15, it doesn't mean that such marriage customs goes to everyone in the Hmong community. It's just really that *&*(^%$ person's own fault for taking the wrong and stupid step. This is like judging a book by its cover.

Q: Do you know what Hmong is? (...unless you are Hmong--please don't answer this question if you are)
a: Yes. They are an ethnic group from the mountains of Laos whom the CIA contacted to help run a guerilla war against the communist regime of Laos during the Vietnam War. To help overthrow a government that was friendly towards North Vietnam
Q: (If you answered A for the first question, continue.) What is your opinion about Hmong? (You can be honest. I promise I won't bash on you..no matter what.)
Ummm. I live in Minnesota. (Minnesota having a huge number of Hmongs) I have Hmong friends, and they're like any other race. There are smart Hmongs, dumb Hmongs, nice Hmongs, mean Hmongs etc. I mean they're no different from any other race. I'm cool with them, no more or less than I am with any other race. But it seems true that they're all short.
Okay. Final Question.
Q: (If you answered A or B answer this question too.) Do you understand the History of the Hmong people?
a: General Vang Pao (Tell me what you know without looking it up online or asking someone)
The dude that led the guerilla war during Vietnam. He was the only guy more or less that America helped evacuate...
b: History? Vietnam War right? (Anything else?)
That they did not come from Mesoptoamia or anywhere else. They are Asian, not from Siberia etc. And yes I've already explained the Vietnam thing

Okay. Final Question.

Lol, yeah the Hmong are pretty interesting though. It's really sad that Americans as a whole don't know/appreciate what the Hmongs did during Vietnam to help American troops. It's sad how the American government betrayed the Hmong by deporting some Hmong were deported from refuge camps in Thailand back to Laos. The American government can't thank it's troops well. (Walter Reed, Hmong etc.)
Oh yeah and I forgot to add this. In the 1910's ish, I remember the Hmong fought against the French. And the French killed the Hmong leader and stopped the revolt more or less. I don't know much about that though.

I agree with what you said. That is so true, every single race, no matter what race a person is from, it is really about what kind person and character the individual is. We're all human beings, there are the bad and good people (no matter where they are orginally from).

And obviously...some people don't bother to care about the history of Hmong...why?
Why bother when the country from where the Hmong people inhabited is not sufficiently stated although I know it's somewhere from China. And the history of Hmong is so extinctive that all the information about them is clearly from people's opinion. Some Hmong children don't even know their holy background not to mention the fact that some completely abandoned their culture and become so white--americans. In fact, some kiddo don't even know what the secret war is and who the heck is Vang Pao! It's not those of others who are not interested. Even 'some' (not all) hmong people are so discriminative of their own nationality. So...the reality history dates back only to when the people fled from Laos where the cruelity is so partly what is always mentioned.
---anyway..this is clearly from my perspective so ummm...if it sound a little off the max, don't feel offended.
