is it a factory radio? if so, then it's pretty simple to fix, just go to your local dealership and ask them for the code. they wont give you the code over the phone for security reasons.

lol...wth, never heard of that. well actually i've never encountered that problem. is it that secretive to hold on to a code so a person can get their radio fixed? oh my, what is toyota to do? call collect from japan and ask for the error code? that's ridiculous..

yeah same thing happened to my VW a while back... you have to take your headunit out and get the serial #... then go to a dealer and get the code...

Hope that helps!

^ Exactly. Honda charges like $25 for the code.

are you sure? i had to get my code a couple of times free of charge and i guess they got tired me of asking for it that they told me to write the code somewhere and store it.

Yea it's stupid, everytime my battery dies or I take out the battery the radio resets and requires the code or else it won't function. Really pisses me off and dealership will charge me for the damn code. Can't wait for my AVIC-D2. Bye bye stock HU

^ Pull out the radio fuse before you disconnect the battery and you don't have to worry about it.

Sometimes, if you pull out the oem unit, it may have the security code already written/typed on it. But if you don't have it, then you could do what you did and take it to the dealership. Just to inform people who are having the same problem.
