cant get full coverage on a salvaged title car, lower resale value, driving aorund in a potentially dangerous car (not fixed properly it was wrecked)

There are some salvaged titles cars that i think are ok. I see some stolen cars get tagged a salvaged title just for missing wheels and seats.

also the g can already run mid 13s stock and the hks intakes adds an estimated 10 extra hp and the exhausts add like 8 so yeah it should shove off about 1.5 to 2 sec off my times

You better get a carfax on it. I had a 97 Civic EX w/rebuilt title and I got in a small accident which damaged the front end (very minimal, didn't even touch the fenders) and it totaled my car. Looked like an easy fix by just getting a new front end but found out later that it distorted the frame of the car by almost 2 inches and they said whoever "fixed" it before did a piss poor job.

i would check out the car first hand see if the damage been fully repaired and get then get a carfax to see what kind of accident it was. for me, insurance isn't the big problem, it's fixing the car after you bought it that is.

do you know why it has a salvaged title?
it could be of many reasons, either it got into a big accident, flood damage, or it coulve been a recoverd car that the police sold back...

all i have to say is: just be careful when you're purchasing a salvage title car. in fact, i really don't think you should get it unless the reason for it being a salvage car is minor AND it's been checked out by an autoshop (avoid the dealers's) AND checked by carfax (it's like 19 dollars, but it's useful) just in case. rely more on paper documents for facts than the words that comes out of the dealers's mouths.

just be real careful! seriously .. i don't want you to go through what my bf ( dry.gif )went through when he bought a salvage title car. he got so caught up in it being a good deal and a nice car and all ... that he was careless. now he's like spending so much time taking it to autoshops and stuff repairing it and pulling out more money for it. in fact, we we were suppose to hang out today, but plans got cancelled because he got another 'check engine' and is spending 5 hours at the auto place .. sleep.gif! hahahah, ok i'm just a little bitter >=P.

& yeah, when you decide to sell the car ... you won't get much out of it because of it's title. good luck!
so we'll just let them hate
cause they can't stop us babe

yea check wat happened to it through carfax
my dad's old truck became salvage title because the seats were stolen out of it, and it apparently cost more money to replace the seats than the truck itself lol dunno y
so yea....check to see wats wrong, if its been in an accident or something that damaged the car (flood, fire etc) dont get it

Just keep it simple and AVOID ANY salvage title car. Obviously a salvage title car is a car that has been in an accident where the damage was greater than 80% of the car's value. Do not believe any car seller who tries to claim that there was just some minor bumper damage or some crap like that, because that would not make the car a salvage. Even if the car looks fine it can very well have frame damage. When you go to resell the car with the salvage title years down the line very few people will be interested since a salvage title on a car essentially means that the car is crap. So in conclusion, avoid it, avoid it, avoid it, just spend the extra money and get a nice clean car that hasn't been in any accidents and has a clean title. Plus, who do you trust more, some random cheap ass bodyshop where the person probably took it to, or Acura? Stick with the car's that haven't been molested smile.gif

Aside from insurance difficulties, it can also cost a lot more to register a salvaged car. Paying more to get a car with a good title is better off in the long run because you're not getting raped every year on insurance and registration.

Salvaged cars don't necessarily mean collision damage, it can also happen if the car has been in a flood or fire or whatever reason where repairing it would seem unreasonable to the insurance adjuster. So you may get a car with no collision damage, but in the case of something like a flood, you could find yourself dealing with electrical problems or water damage.

Back in high school, I totalled my 96 Honda Civic and it received a salvage title. It was rebuilt but had all kinds of strange problems. A lot of strange problems. I traded it in for another ride. All I got to say is, I feel sorry for the next person that purchases the car.

it may seem like a good deal because it's cheap, but it's only cheap because it obviously have problems. don't trust a salvage car with a low price

Besides potential frame damage and lack of insurance coverage nothing really. Too bad most of the EM1s are salvaged titles. They'd make an awesome project car

Everyone pretty much summed it up. Don't buy a salvaged car, buy a clean car and you'll be saving a few hundreds off insurance and knowing that your car isn't gonna break easily will make everything more relaxing, sweatingbullets.gif .
