I'm confused. So fergie is different from fergie, duchess of york right?

Why did fergie (the singer) take up the duchess's name and name her album the duchess. She's not a duchess.

fergie (the singer)...her last name is fergison (sp?) therefore she just took up the stage name "fergie"
and for her album name...she just prob named it dutchess bcos...her "name" is fergie...

No idea about the whole Duchess thing. But yeah, the first thing that came to my mind when Fergie came out with the album was the Duchess of York.

Yeah that's what I thought. Because "Fergie" is actually Stacy Ferguson. And I guess she didn't want to be Stacy, so she takes Ferguson and makes it sound hip and cool and she's got "Fergie."
