What I think is that, it has immediate effect on the skin after applying it -- making it oh so soft and glowing.(What we all want of course) But that's only short term. I don't think continuous applications of aspirin on your face is safe for the long-term, which we all tend to forget about. Anyways, I'm glad I also read this this member's post :http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?s=&...t&p=6843064
So do your research before applying any "miracle/instant" mask on your skin without knowing it's long term and effects.
Sorry, but not everything in that post is true. I've even been told by both a dermatologist and pharmacist, that an aspirin mask periodically is SAFE.
"That very dry feeling that your skin has to it after one of these masks... it's caused by corrosion. That's right, your face is being chemically rotted and oxidized."
Your face is NOT being chemically rotted! Aspirin is a type of beta hydroxy acid (BHA). A property of BHAs is that it's LIPID soluble. So it can go into your pore clogged with oil/sebum. When do you an aspirin mask, you are unclogging your pores of this oil. With frequent use, you are continually stripping your face of natural oils as well. Because you are stripping so much oil constantly, your skin tries to over compensate and thus your skin DRIES out. This is why it is recommend not use the mask so frequently, like everyday.
"The soreness of the skin associated with clogged pores goes away because the aspirin you are applying an analgesic (pain killer) and the unknown amounts of salicylic and acetic acids that dissolved help dry the skin and kill the bacteria in your pores."
Aspirin is a type of pain killer, but it's NOT a topical pain killer. If I have a bump on my head and rub aspirin on it, it will not dissolve into my skin to make it feel better. If you want to KILL bacteria in your pores, you something that has benzoyl perioxide.
"When you are applying aspirin to your skin, you are administering doses to yourself. It is not fully understood how much of the chemicals are taken up by the skin."
You are NOT administering doses to yourself. You will NOT die from aspirin overdose from a mask! If you think aspirin absorbs into the skin in that manner, then what about makeup and skincare? There are tons of different types of chemicals in skincare and makeup, which would be considered toxic if ingested. For example, you wash your hands with liquid soap daily, which is made of chemicals. If you were to drink liquid soap, it would be toxic. But by washing your hands daily with soap, the chemicals in the soap are absoring into your skin. So it's like drinking liquid soap slowly and would eventually become toxic and you would die. Yeah, that's very unlikely. That's not how the body works. Another example is if you soak yourself in milk everyday, you would NOT be getting physical doses of vitamin D.

at first i was wondering how do i get aspirin cause we do not have it here.
but ltr i realise its the same. just that they are named differently in different countries.
uh no....
panadol is paracetamol
aspirin contains salicylate, both are COMPLETELY different
and uh...I'm sure you have aspirin, do you live in australia or nz? They sell them in the pharmacy.

I would recommend to use the effervescent tablet (fizzy tablet)! It is quite big, so you only need one tablet and it also contains Vitamin C! It doesn't dry out your skin and you don't have to care about side effects...

did you use moisturizer afterwards? you really should if your face gets dry. I use Cetaphil moisturizing lotion
I just rinsed off the mask right now and my skin indeed feels soft! I felt a slight tingling in my skin while wearing it but certainly no irritation. I think I'll use it every day for a week or two and then every 2-3 days after that.

About the drying--I didnt experience that much, but I did put in like 3 vit E capsules (the gel ones that u can cut open and squeeze the vitamin out) sometimes and it made my skin really soft the day after.
