I think this might be intresting. Post up websites that teach southern belle etiquette, debutante stuff, ways to eat and talk that you considered rich or classy people act/dress/do. (I don't want so much your opinion of how you perceive rich people, more like how they do act.)
(This is a survey for school but it's also intresting to learn these stuff.)

Classy is:
Not tanking it up at parties.
Not swearing (already said)
Not wearing 'no' clothes.
Not gorging on chips.
Having your pinky up. (ahahaa. not really, but using your manners)
Not slouching. (already said)
(more to come?)

still pulling on doors when pushing is required.

Being classy is about confidence. There is no set format of "class." Classy is how people perceive you and people and people's perceptions will differ. Some people can be classy if they swear, some can be classy if they wear clothing that looks like crap. I've seen it before, and really it just depends on the person. But confidence certainly helps.
Also, if you try hard to be "classy" then it's almost certain that you're not. ;P
And no one does that debutante/southern belle stuff anymore...that's just strange. >.<

Ladies should NEVER smoke in public; it is shocking and unheard of!!
This is ridiculous. I don't smoke, and I don't advocate it, but this is clearly sexist. A lot of people think that this may have been copied out of an 1800's how-to guide, but there are actually countries where "ladies shouldn't smoke" is actually still advocated.
QUOTE
In similar fashion gentlemen should address ladies as Mrs. ________ (if married) or Miss ________ (if unmarried). Example: Mrs. Dunlop or Miss Smith. In public, the gentlemen should even refer to his wife in conversation as Mrs. ________, not her first name.
Again, sexist. You are supposed to refer to someone as Mz. Smith (for example). The Mz. prefix doesn't show that a woman is married or single, because in modern society that shouldn't matter. And quite frankly, if you know someone then call them by their first name or else they'll think you're a freak.
I know this thread isn't meant to be critical, but things like these just irritate me. I go to political and business events all the time, or what you would call "elitest" gatherings. People don't act like this, they're normal. I'll refer to my previous post, being classy is about confidence. And be polite. But don't be sexist and refer to this traditional crap, it won't impress anyone and will quite likely offend several people. Class isn't a static, unchanging way of acting. Times change, and so class changes. It still exists, but it's not the same as the era of debutantes etc. Class changes as more groups (ex. women) assert their own roles in society. Class is not about acting ancient, and that is one of the problems a lot of people have. They think that acting "rich" is about acting ancient. It's not. It's about being your own individual, empathetic, gracious, polite, confident. And most importantly it's about being sincere. That's true class.
Sorry for the rant. But take it from someone who's been there. Lest you make an arse out of yourself. -.-"

Agreed. And southern belles get a lot of stereotyping for being perfect ladies.. but I know some ladies from the south... and haha. No, I wouldn't call them "belles" at all..! haha.
Yeah, being classy is about confidence. There's really no other way to describe it. Classy has nothing to do with money but has everything to do with how you hold yourself! I mean, come on, some Hollywood A-listers are really cheesy but have all the money in the world (Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson, etc). Classy is about how you carry yourself.
