So I reformatted my computer just a few days ago and installed iTunes again to try and add more files. When I plugged my iPod into my newly reformatted computer, it said "synching ipod" and then when I checked it all the files were gone.
Is there any way to get them back? All my music and videos are gone T_T. They're on a backup drive on my brother's computer, is the only way to get the files back by putting them on my new computer, re-adding, then resynching? This took me like 10 hours the first day I got my iPod..........
And for future reference, is there anyway to avoid this problem altogether when using iTunes on a new machine? This totally sucks.

=O You'll have to put them back onto your iPod from your brother's computer. You may want to do this to save time: first sync your iPod to the iTunes on your brother's computer so that it'll add all your files onto your iPod and then select the "manually manage music and videos" option once you're done.
By selecting this option it will prevent your iPod from syncing to the iTunes on the computer you plug it into. However, this also means that whenever you want to add more music to your iPod you're going to have to do it manually. But it does save you from erasing the files on your iPod if you plug it into different computers. =) Haha, did you get my explanation?

are you sure it's completely empty?
sometimes the itunesdb file gets deleted or overwritten and it makes your ipod appear empty when it still has files on it

Yeah it shows full space on it.
Where can I find the option to make it automatically manage my files?

so if u reformatted ur hard drive, im guessing u dont have ur songs on itunes so u cant sync it... cuz if u do it syncs to a library with nothing in it...
get it synced from ur bro's comp, or get the songs from him... then put it on ur computer and sync...
i think that was just a repeat of wat was just said...
