And it is not very easy. Any tips for a newbie trying to learn? I have this software called Rosetta Stone, and while I understand some words from the sounds, but sentences a little later in the program make no sense. I have no idea how that makes somebody master it.
Any help would be thankful.

I'm doing the same thing. I first learned the korean alphabet from http://www.langintro.com/kintro/
Then I moved onto the numbers (up to ten thousand) & some basic phrases at http://wordbridge.com/koreng/
I'm not finished with that yet cuz by the time I got to "how old are you" I started feeling like the sentences were too similar to one another and I would forget them and get them mixed up soon so I decided to go find something with pictures, maybe learn some nouns & watch some more korean movies and come back to it.
I ended up at the Sogang Univ website http://korean.sogang.ac.kr/
and decided it would be good to study the history of Korea. I was right cuz it was enlightening.
Then I went over to http://www.korean-edu.com/ and started using those interactive lessons. That's where I am at right now.
