I just got a gameshark and tried to use it w/ my PS2 but it keeps saying that it won't read the disk. Am i missing something?

Maybe that ps2 dvd isn't NTSC specified. Did you buy it out of the country or in a Chinatown? It could be pirated.
If you can, return it for a trade, a refund is unlikely.
In another case, if you rented it from blockbuster then maybe the disk is scratched?

It should be a new gameshark. i got it from my friend. and i'm pretty sure its not pirated and not really scratched. i dunno. its weird

Like not a valid playstaiton or playstion 2 disk?
If it does that means the disk is probably too old for your version of ps2. Im pretty sure thats the case. Either that or you have a modchip thts over reacting or your ps2 really CANT read the disk. The gameshark company is infamous for their inferior quality hardware and disks. So if your ps2's laser wasn't doing too well to begin with it probably wont read well at all on a poorly made disk.
