Hey u all~
Im at UWO-Western Ontraio (London) ~in SCIENCE
~Im thinkin og transferring to UofT~ but i duno if it'll be harder or easier!~ ...basically, if its worth it

so, my question was, how are ur exams like? -for all years--

for me:
1st year--alllll multiple choice (science courses)
2nd year-mostly multiple-choice: Orgo,biochem,cell bio, genetics,physiology

...and UofT science courses are like.......?

the exam formats depend on which courses you take.
for me (first year) this is how ours are like:
bio - mutiple choice
chem - multiple choice + short answer
physics - multiple choice + short answer
calc-multiple choice + short answer

and im pretty sure the other years are like this too, usually a combination of both MC and short answer. but just because its MC, doesnt mean its easier. i have some friends at UWO science, and it seems a lot easier than UT =\
our class averages are usually around 50-60s and they move really fast in terms of material

woow~well, for my first year courses~bio, physics, and calc were the same as UT...but chemistry was ALL multiple choice~~~
hmm~wow, then its true~the averages there are fairly low!! hm~i wonder if other factors come into play at UT--access of "going out" hehe~theres like nothing to do here in London -.-^

but the material @UT and@uwo should be about the same right? it wouldnt be fair if they taught different things~
and THANKS for replying^^

I must say it'd be harder... because of high competition....but it worths your pain because after all, it's UofT rolleyes.gif

Higher levels would be mostly written exams....or combinations of both. All depends on what kind of classes too. Biochem - higher levels are all written, for example.

I have to question your reasons for wanting to transfer. I've never taken a science course in university before but my understanding is that most of these introductory courses are standardized and therefore typically similar in the level of difficulty and teaching/testing method across all universities.

University of Toronto is no different. It is a massive school with a large influx of undergraduates. I'm certain that 1st and 2nd year courses deals with standardized testing (i.e., multiple choice).

The difference in the level of difficulty is more profound between individual professors more than the name of the school.

After an introductory C, it puts a C sharp before the D. . .and this added C Sharp is the most moving, consolatory, pathetically reconciling thing in the world. seconded~ even though i'm not in science, but i had a first year course that's significantly harder than a 2nd year course due to the difference in prof only~ and uoft's not that great... sweatingbullets.gif oh well, i'm stuck at toronto for the next 2, 3 years... tears.gif

UT has the lowest ratio of ppl getting over 80s
and if you're planning to go into med school, they dont really care much about which uni you went to. if you're getting 85+ then id say you are safer at uwo~

It really depends on ur courses. For 1st year chem, if u take an upper course like CHM151, all short answers for me... Other courses like bio, physics, psych are MCs... 2nd year orgo chem was short answer... physio is MC...

I'm a U of T Alumini and if u want me to say how U of T courses are, well it's freaking hard. Right now if you're going into chem or any other life sci course, they're imposing GPA restrictions. So be prepared that you need at least a 70 to get into the programs you want... Well, not always... If you want to get into Pharmacy, u better have a 3.4 and above. Also, if u do transfer ur credits, they might make u repeat courses because the cirriculums are different. I know a guy who transferred his credits from UT Scarb to UT St. George and had to repeat a math course which was basically the same thing he learned because the cirriculums were different... Also, u need a high GPA to transfer to U of T...

Yes, if u want to go into med school, don't come to U of T. Ur GPA would definitely be lower than other uni... Don't even think about biochem, it's the crazy... Out of all the friends I know, only 1 made it into med school at U of T... So good luck to you... It might not be that bad because I'm a slacker, I don't study for tests/exams till the last day. So I totally disliked U of T because of my mark.

yeah i heard the competition is insane at U of T.. and they have some pretty hard profs too :/ it's up to you really but going there would slim out your chances of getting into med school by a bit imo lol that is... if that's even your plan =_=;.
The moment you doubt yourself, is the moment you have already failed.

Maybe you got bad marks...not because UofT's hard but..maybe..just maybe....you're a slacker?? I mean, let's say you didn't study sh.t and you still got A's....wonder how you would view UofT then....
