HANA YORI DANGO......... LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

And if you want a GOOOOOOD sad story:
1 Liter of Tears. OMG, so good!

[edit]

Nobuta wo Produce is my favorite too! but the love story in it is verr small..
practically nothing...... but the morals and lessons from it is definitely soemthing
to watch for.... NwP was simply LOVE wit Kame and Yamap..

Since you seem to like Satoshi-kun, you probably have watched Orange Days already, but if not, you SHOULD! (:
Love stories.. hmmmmmm. I can't really think of strictly "love stories".
I'll just tell you all the good ones.

01 attention please (cute stuff! ryo in it is so cute!!) story about a tomboy becoming the best flight attendant
02 iryu (REALLY GOOD but kinda graphic) about a very talented heart surgeon
03 kekkon dekinai otoko (man who can't get married) REALLY FUNNNY; the title explains it all
04 dragon zakura (will make you smart! hehehe it's very good) a story about 6 students trying to get into tokyo univ from a very low rated HS
05 kurosagi (about a swindler who swindles other swindlers to return money to the victims and more.. finding the swindler who made his dad kill the rest of his family..)
06 gokusen 1 and 2 (HELLA CUTE BOYS!!) about a teacher who's from a yakuza family. gets "kinda" repeptitive, but really funny!
07 angeo (about a woman who's kinda a mother to all the other temporary working girls in office.. it's strangely funny)

that's all I can think of right now.. of course there are hundreds more...

I agree with Dr. Jung My favorite is Orange Days!!! (satoshi)

Here are the Romantic once in my order of preference after Orange Days
1) Pride (Kimura Takuya Yuko Takeuchi)
2) Long Vacation (Kimura Takuya
3) Refrain/ Meguri Ai (its about 12 years old Takako Tokiwa and Fukuyama Masaharu -- this one is a really rollercoaster romance it follows their 11 year friendship/ relationship)
4) To Heart -- A lot of peopel HATE Kyoko's character shes ok -- it what she usually plays. Maybe I have a soft spot for it because it was one of my first dramas.
5) Hana Yori Dango (HS lovestory - kinda playful)
6) Tokyo Friends (Kinda Orange days ish -- college aged people finding themseleves)
7) Boku Dake Madaonna
8) Anego

1 liter of tears is supposed to be a good lovestory too

Not totally romantic but =) -- flirting / interest ...
Dragon Zakura
H2
Remote
Kurosagi

The otheer lovestory-ish that I watched that I thought were OK were
Good Luck
Love Generation
With Love
Attention Please
Slow Dance
Beauty and the Beast
Ack - Haven't watched a J or K drama or Movie in AGES ;0). Been spending time at the book store (remember those flappy paper things). Favs: Twilight Series (Meyer), Harry Potter, Charlie Bone, Thirteen Reasons Why (Asher), Wickedly Lovely (Marr), Blue Blood Series. Fav Authors: Garwood, Lindsey, Ward, and Kenyon.
Waiting for: Crows Zero (jmovie), Kurosagi SP,

Yea, I agree that Orange Days is a very good romantic drama! And it helps with the good looking actors as well xD.

Okie, below is my little list for dramas that I deem as romantic:

Long Vacation - Okay, this is already a classic to many Jdrama fans, myself included. It's a great drama and is highly addicting.

Forbidden Love - Okay, it's a forbidden love between a highschool student and his teacher, sounds very wrong, right? But this drama is executed in a way that it makes their love very uhm... romantic and even heart-wrenching, yea, lol. It's good for the hopeless romantic at heart who wants a great dose of drama in his/herseries.

Kimi wa Petto - The premise is a little strange, but it's a romantic drama nonetheless. This drama tells of the relationship between an office lady who is having a hard time dating and a boy she picks up one day in front of her apartment. She brings him in and asks him to become her pet... Even though the synopsis is kinda eh..., it's a good drama. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. This drama is just hard to resist.

Last Christmas - Okay, since Christmas is drawing near, I'm adding this to the list. Not just because of that but this drama has excellent romance. The romance is more mature and realistic than some of the dramas I listed above. Ahh, I really want to rewatch it now.

God, please give me more time - The romance is pretty prominent in this drama, even when the theme is about a girl infected with AIDS and how she deals with it. The two main leads are very compatible with each other and that makes this drama even more appealing. Be aware that this drama is pretty dark, just like Forbidden Love. Still, it's an excellent drama.

Over Time - not many people know or care about this drama because it's old, the actors aren't good looking, yada yada... too bad, they're missing out a lot because this drama rocks my socks biggrin.gif. The ending is pretty upsetting though, but the rest of the drama is awesome.

And of course, HYD. Everybody knows about this drama I guess ^^a so no need to talk about it.

From SmileeGirl's recommendations, I'm very interested in Refrain, sounds like the type of drama I'd enjoy xD.

i'm so outdated, but is Orang Days have a happy ending?
I just watch My Boss My Hero, not so much of a romance, but it's hella funny ^^

i agree that Over Time is a good one, but not so much of and ending.

If you can find this, Heaven's Coin (Hoshi no Kinka) and it also goes with title Die Sterntaler. it's romantic, but i'm not sure if you'd like the ending.

The rest of Takuya Kimura's drama such as Long Vacation, Love Generation are also as good.

Another one of my favourite is Say You Love Me (takako tokiwa and etsushi toyokawa --or something)

CrazyMuka

If you look at jdorama trading thread you can probally find someone who can loan it to you. It is pretty old so it might not be the best quality.

There was this guy who had a really detailed synopsis of refrain but the links appear to be dead. So I tried to write a synopsis based on what I remember. It has been a while so I might have gotten some of the details mixed up but the basic premis is there.

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD
Takako Tokiwa plays this girl Eri. She wants to be a dancer and meets Shu (Fukuyama Masahara) when she moves next door to him. THey live in an old buiding with bad pipes (typical college apartment). She dates this guy who eventually steals all the money she saved working all types of jobs to study dance abroad.

Although they don't initially like each other they get to be friends (she is kinda free for all and he is serious). They begin to date and have a fun relationship. They spend a lot of time at this resturant called Refrain. Refrain is run by this guy who is their friend/ confidant. Through out their relationship/ and friendship their friend is a listening ear.

When Shu is about to graduate he buys her an engagement ring but through a misunderstanding / series of wrong assumptions they break up (he thinks she wants to pursue dance abroad when she actually wants to stay with him). So without anything in Japan in the end she goes to NY.

A while later (the next year later?) in New York Eri is doing the dancing thing and Shu is on a business trip. She sees him and runs after him BUT gets hit by a car (which he doesn't know about). There is a cute Dr who just happens to be there.

Shu sees Eri a few seasons later but he has since gotten engaged to a nice OL in a company he manages and Eri is still working odd jobs (he doesn't know about the accident). She is dating (sorta - she still calls him DR) the Dr who was at her accident and had helped her recover. The Drs is big time in LOVE with Eri. Its some what of a secret but because of the accident. She can walk but she won't be able to dance. Although they have an attraction for each other they decide to be just friends because they are dating others. They even meet each others new partners and all are freindly. Shu is initially upset that Eri seems to have frivously given up on her dream but is later informed by the Dr about the accident and that her walking now is a miracle. When he mentions the accident happen while chasing someone in NY -- Shi is alrarmed that he recalls a feeling of someone calling to him when he was there. Eri eventually becomes an advisor to Shus fiance and even helps host Shu's wedding Shus new wife kinda idolizes Eri.

They kinda distance from each other and then next episode some more time has passed and Shus company is in trouble and he starts working a lot (to save the company and to try and help his contractors) his wife who had quit her job to be a house wife has becomes lonely and has eventually turns to alcohol for comfort. It's kinda uncomfortable because the wife is a really nice/cute women and it is heard to imagine her becoming an alcoholic. It would have been easy to cast her as a bad women but shu would never pick someone like that so everyone including the audience is torn about how the leads will get together without scarring this character. In the end Shu and his wife get divorced. Eri and the Dr have also broken up. There is scene between the ex wife and Eri where the Ex kinda is sad that she is divorced and points out how close Eri and shu were although nothing happened but that she is OK with it now ...

So a now single Eri and and unemployed shu are at a turning point in their lives.

Eri and Shu both decide seperately to return back to their fondest memories (their old apartments) and are surprised to find out that the other has also returned. They kinda relive their relationship again doing fun stuff. Shu has taken up an old hobby of photography. Which leads to a job as an apprentice for a famous photographer. Of course he gets paid nothing or practically nothing and Eri who wants to be supportive gets a job as a hostess (without Shu knowing of course). When he finds out he quits the photography job and gets a job a a construction worker. Which Eri finds out about and feels guilty about. Then Shu gets offered a chance to shadow the photographer (a lady btw) on a photo shoot that will take a year. Eri finds out and decides to pick a fight so he will be free to go.

all the while the Dr. has also become inconsolable because Eri has broken up with him (I can't remember if something else happen) but he pretty much has become a bum. Eri actually stumbles across him and decides to take care of him in return for taking care of. Even though he knows that she actually loves shu he accepts that she stays with him.

So shu returns from his tour and finds out that refrain is closing (through out the story both eri and shu have visited to talk about their problems). Eri decided to host Shus first gallery exhibit in refrain as a fairwell party (also their apartment is being demolished). The ownder of refrain returns the engagement ring he has been holdinng on to ALL this time. Shu is moved that so many people have come to the exhibit and of course that eri did all of it BUT the Dr. wants Eri to marry him.

What does Eri do??? She feels obligated to stay with the Dr because he needs her and has even started to practice again.

The last scene ...
Eri is about to leave with the Dr. on the train BUT get off and runs to a waiting shu.

Oh yeah if you like funny try Kisarazu Cat's Eye - the synopsis makes it sound like a sad movie but it is seriously NUTS I laughed out loud many times. I am looking for the Sequel with eng subs but it has eluded me.

Orange Days & Pride are my favorites. Better than most asian dramas (including the really popular Korean ones and tons better than the Taiwanese dramas with really bad acting).
