I will be transferring into UCDavis as a Neuroscience, Physiology, and Behavior AND Exercise Biology Major...and I would like to know
--is orientation mandatory? useful? necessary?
--or...is it just a waste of money?
I briefly read on the website that at orientation i will be able to register, is there a certain code that i need to register? if so, can i get it some other time (over the net, through an e-mail?)?
Also, it says to come to orientation and bring my laptop to register it with the campus wireless...can i do that some other time?
--Do you recommend transfer students to go to orientations?
I am really excited to transfer--I don't want to be confused and such about advising/counselors and such (although i will have a handful of transfer-bound friends there too).
Also--
If you have any advice for a transfer student, please share!
Thanks.

mine was free and they also said it was mandatory (but they don't do anything if you don't show up)
anyways, I thought it was pointless..I would've figured out everything on my own if I didn't go anyways
got a lot of free junk that ended up in the trash, and met people who I will most likely never talk to again ahahha =/
joining clubs is a better way of meeting people

i went for only one day and it was kind of helpful :/ they just tour you around the unvesrity and give u additional tips.
altho it didnt make much difference . i still got around fine and all that ...
i guess it gives you a step ahead in getting to know people. but you have a whole year for that ;D

For example, on orientation I got my university ID card, my laptop, university policies, and a campus tour of buildings.
My friend and I were so freakin' bored though and couldn't wait to go home.

you get to meet new people and people that can help you in your studies.
i think it's helpful to get to know more people in your faculty and program!

It was free, three days and they held a cruise, parties and a fair for us. And lots of free stuff and our laptops.
Well of course there were tours but those were really short.
