Okay, so I had pierced ears that didn't have earrings in them for a long time, couple months or so. They kind of closed, but didn't really, since I just put some earrings in them. I had to screw the earrings in.

Now my earlobes are infected. I asked a friend and she said it may be a reaction to fake metal. I'm not sure. But before I "re-pierced" my ears, I had put alcohol on them and the earrings.

What ways can I help get rid of the infection? Medication of any sort? I read on a piercing thread on Soompi that you should never put Neosporin on your ears/piercing.

Or was it a bad mood to "re-pierce" my ear on my own?

hmm... so you "re-pierced" by yourself? lol... maybe not the best idea... but since it's done, well, how badly is the infection? is there puss coming out? and how long ago was this? if it's like less than a week, and it's just kinda red and a bit painful, i wouldn't worry too much. just try not to touch it too much.

but if it's been a while, but it's a mild infectino, then your friend's probably right, people can get infected by fake metal (i do...) try using either pure metal earrings or plastic ones. but if problem persists, go see your doctor for some cream, (god i sound like a really bad ad... XD)

if it's REALLY really bad infection, like puss and blood everywhere... i'd probably take it out and go to the doctor.

hope that helped. smile.gif

sea salt soaks!
it'd be kind of awkward to soak your lobe, though. but soaks work pretty well.
and try putting in better jewelery & don't touch your lobes all the time.

when I got a piercing on my earlobe, I kept twisting it and playing around with it, when I took it off I found out there was a ball growing at the back of my earlobe, what I did was popped it, kept trying and trying until it pop. not a good idea, but I put that spray on it, 4got what its called. it seems fine now =)

edit - btw the size of the ball was the size of a fly =) quite big if you compare it to the earlobe

you can do that... or my friends use the tips on garlic. they are like little sticks-ish? just don't mess with it that much and it should go away after a while.

agreed. when I first pierced my ears, they became super infected, it seriously looked like something was eating away on my ear but I was stupid because the lady who pierced it said that I had to leave the earrings in for a certain amount of time otherwise it'll close so i left my earrings in. after a while I took them out and didn't wear earrings for over a month and it healed itself.

I had this situation a few months ago .
I just took out the earring and let it heal ,
so later , I could get my ear pierced again .
I think that's the best you could do if your ear is seriously infected .
But if you'd still like to try ,
I say you use rubbing alcohol , ear medicine , or sea salt .
My sister got it for her belly button piercing and it works well ^^

There was clear liquidy stuff around the piercing and yellow crust would develop around the piercing as well. I took my earrings out 2 days prior from creating this thread and it was going away. I was afraid that my piercings would close again so I put in a different pair of earrings and the infection is still going away. Hopefully it'll go away by next Saturday (prom)! Thanks for your help everyone. I'll defiantly try your tips.

same thing happened to me. dunno where you got that from, but you should definitely put on neosporin, says so my doctor smile.gif
my ears closed up and i tried putting earrings back on, got a major infection to the point where new skin was growing on top of my earings, trying to heal the hole sad.gif. i had to push the earings back out and used neosporin on my ears. waited till the holes competely healed, meaning they closed now, and had to go get them repierced.

i suggest since you already repierced, leave the earings on and clean the area with alcohol first, then put on neosporin each time. trust me happy.gif
