Ok, so both of my two brothers have recently got an iMac each but difference models, ones got the 20-inch: 2.4GHz and the other has the 24-inch: 2.8GHz. the thing is the faster one (2.8GHz.) is really loud and I mean really loud and the other is as quiet as a mouse, is this normal for the faster one to be loud? or is this a fault? and should he return it and get a new one?

What's loud? the dvd drive? HD? the Fan? is it loud continuously? or at idle?

I think it's the HD and fan combined that is loud I'm not sure and yes this is constant, from first turning it on until you turn it off.

leopard is definitely worth the upgrade.
Spaces and Time Machine alone is worth it, not to mention all the little details and improvements on existing programs and such.

yups! the 1TB time capsule is one of my best investments.
and my wifi now runs off it too. and its SO fast :O

OK, congrats on your purchase. I did not get the iWork program because i got Microsoft Office 2008 for mac. If you use more than just one account or different kind of chat programs you might consider using Adium. http://www.adiumx.com/

Spaces is like having multiple monitors. You can have different things on the different "spaces" and rotate through them as needed. For more info visit: http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/spaces.html If you want to go to your system preferences go to the Apple logo at the top left of the screen, and choose System Preferences.

To type in Korean, go to System Preferences>International
Once you're there find 한글 and drag it up right underneath English
Then click the tab Input Menu and click the check box for Hangul
Also click the box at the bottom of the window "Show input menu in menu bar" then all you have to do is when you want to type in Korean go under the flag icon near the clock in the top right hand area of your screen and select "Hangul".

Hope that helps!

I'm assuming you're talking about registration for Applecare?
You can use the online wizard to register your Applecare
https://selfsolve.apple.com/Agreements.do

Also if you go under the Apple logo at the top left and choose "About this Mac" and then choose "More info" it will tell you the serial number in the Hardware Overview.

im a new mac user (from pc) and i need help sad.gif PLEASE, any help would be greattttly appreciated. thanks

1. I want to watch videos from sites like KBS SBS MBC on my mac, but how?

2. I like to keep my computer clean clean clean and so when I got my mac I started just deleting some things (it was stupid of me) thinking if I needed it, I would be able to just 'restore' it like on pc and it would go back to where it was before.. just to find out that to restore it on mac, i would have to drag it back to where I want it. Now my 'change desktop background' wont work. When I right click on desktop, and click change desktop bg, nothing pops up. Same goes with dock preference. Any way to fix this problem???

3. My Airport (wireless network) disconnects everytime it goes on sleep or I close the screen. So I have to reconnect everryyy single time. How annoying..

4. Does clubbox work on mac?

5. For any of you who watch videos on Mnet, I cant get it to work on my mac, help?

So basically Im a huge drama freak and I cant watch anything on my mac o_o; ummm... yah

1. Sorry, i don't have an account on KBS Korea so i couldn't find out what you were talking about. I'm not sure if their video players will run in US version of Firefox, or if they require you to install their own software which would probably NOT work on Macs.

2. Have you tried going through the Apple icon, System Preferences, Desktop/Screensaver? All Macs come with a system restore disc, if you have messed around with your computer you can restore that by reinstalling the OS by itself.

3. When you put your computer to sleep it's asleep - the whole point is to suspend all computer functions. My suggestion is to set your screensaver (set mine to 10 min.), and display sleep (set mine to 15 min.) and leave the computer running if you're downloading something overnight.

4. I don't believe Clubbox works for Mac.

5. No idea.

6. If you're a drama freak i'd recommend watching them via sites like Crunchyroll.com, MySoju, or downloading them via D-addicts website.

AHH.
I still can't decide between the MB and MBP.
Please help me decide?
I'm an architecture/civil engineering major/film production freak.
I use Final Cut Pro, Photoshop and the works.
I honestly think I'll leave most of the heavy working/editing on my iMac that I already have (It's not the current iMac but the one before it. I got it like 2 weeks before the new one came out .__. But I like the sleek white look over the new generation anyway.)
I'm patient enough for the rumored MB in late September since that's when I start school anyways.
My school has a special back to school pricing that's pretty much like the Apple store one but it doesn't come with a free printer.
I either want the MB 2.4GHz Black - $1349 or the MBP 2.5GHz 15" - $2199.
Both will be upgraded to 4GB memory btw.
Do I really need a MBP though considering I'll be using my iMac too?
I really only need a laptop for classes and stuff.
Some of the editing programs will be going in my future MB/MBP.
Because I might be editing in class too ya know?

Btw. Is it worth it to get VMware Fusion for $40?
I have to get a windows program with it too right?
Windows Vista Business - $80? Is that okay?

Should I wait for the MB update? Or go ahead with one of my choices?
I don't have an iPod at the moment since I lost my shuffle .___.
So a 32GB iTouch would be nice. But I don't need one, ya know?

Also, even if it's more expensive after the back to school special, it's okay but I wouldn't mind saving some $$.

I'm that 1% that got infected .____.
Basically, I updated my limewire and I forgot to set my limewire so that other users don't get access to my files.
I basically got hacked into and I couldn't turn on my computer.
Blank screen of death for awhile .___.
It easily got fixed though by inserting one of the CDs I forgot the name but it came with the computer.
So just set your limewire to private or whatever and don't let it run all day just to be safe.
I still use limewire & I haven't encounter anything like that since then.

If i were you i'd get the base model of Macbook and buy a Mac Pro tower for all the heavy work. While MBP will make a difference in terms of speed using Adobe CS3 and rendering, it will not make a HUGE leap when considering the price costs and that you're upgrading to 4GB RAM anyways. After all when you consider render times, there's only so much a laptop can do. Eventually you will have to put down for a Mac Pro tower, and so it's best not to dump $3K into that MBP right now. Since you only need the laptop for classes and stuff, if I were you i'd just get the Macbook instead, and use the saved money for a Mac Pro tower. Do you have an iPhone 3G? Using that plus a Macbook would cover pretty much anything. Also i don't like VMWare, i prefer Parallels unless you do heavy gaming in which case you should do a BIOS based emulation like Bootcamp. What do you need Windows Vista Business anyways? Vista is crap anyways so save your money and just get the Home edition.

Of course if money isn't the issue go all out and get the MBP...

Hello I just recently got a macbook b/c my 5 yr old laptop died and before the macbook i bought a new sony vaio laptop and that crashed just 2 days using it. Now that I've switched over to mac...I love it!! the intel macs are pretty cool and I installed a windows os into my macbook and it works smoothly cuz there are still programs that I need to use in windows & other programs that need windows.

For the clubbox question....I think it'll work on the intel mac with the Windows OS installed on it. But u have to be logged into windows. I haven't tried it yet cuz I haven't found anything to dl using cb in awhile.

edit: Yup cb does work if u have windows installed smile.gif I'm using it now.

V Xarthan thank u for the help...I'll try and see if it comes on again for a 3rd time then I'll take it to apple store.

One question: My built in isight camera tends to have the green light on even though I'm not using it w/ any program. It's happened twice now and twice I've had to reset the PMU, does anyone why this happens. I reset the pmu by following hte instructions on the apple site. Is it bad to reset the pmu often? And if the green light prob. persists should I get it fixed?

Yes it will work via this.

Green Light means ur camera is on. If u can't find out what's making it turn on take it to a genius bar.

I've had my mbp for a year now and haven't found time machine to be necessary, so I was wondering if there's a way to delete the backup and start new?

Also, everything seems to be starting up more slowly now. When the apple icon pops up the circle of death keeps spinning for a good 20-30 seconds, and it takes 20 seconds on average for programs to load before other processes delag. I've already removed all startup items as well.

Thanks smile.gif

I don't believe they can see your files unless you want them to. They can only see files you've dropped in the "drop box" in the public folder when you go to your home icon.
